Once NDSU is fbs there will be 22 more scholarships. Think about it, NDSU is 7-3 vs FBS (9-1 if a late FG & block don't happen) with 22 less players and depth. So yea NDSU "program" is better than most

Except your only chance would be the Mac conference or maybe mountain west if your dream ever came to fruition. Iowa state has a winning record again kstate, doesn't mean were a better program.

I refuse to denigrate their program as it is sound. I just don't believe we will lose to them. There is enormous incentive for FCS players to demonstrate that their abilities are equal to their larger class counterparts. The reverse of this rationale is often dangerously present in those competing for an FBS team.

In the case of NDSU lack of talent is likely not the reason for some of their gifted players being ignored by D1 programs. Since coach Bohl was a disciple of Tom Osborne, I suspect that like Osborne, Bohl had no problem with the practice of recruiting Prop 48, partial qualifiers; now referred to as non-predictors, academic risks.

So, people that go to NDSU are to stupid to get into a real school? I think, based on months of observing Lakes...that's probably true.

you may be on to something, lakes does like to claim he was on the baseball team even though he isn't on a single roster from the time frame he was there.

Play a full FBS schedule before boasting your fcs accomplishments. If Utah, West Virginia, tcu, etc. have struggled bumping up to the power five, the learning curve for Ndsu would be embarrassing. Unless they're in the Mac or sun belt.
I brought up TCU & WVU a couple of months ago and lakes conveniently ignored it just like he'll ignore this. The weekly grind is vastly different than one game a season.

NDSU would have 22 more bodies for "the grind" and NDSU has always been a smash mouth type school we recruit strong and tough kids that can tackle.

Ndsu is a good academic school

Not sure why the grind of an FBS schedule is relevant in the first game of the season thread. Look forward to you using that excuse after the game on 8/30.

I will give props to Iowa State for beating us by 17 pts in 2009. You should be proud that the best Cyclone team in 8 years beat the worst Bison team in 8 years. You have to go back to 2005 (Cal Poly) to find a bigger margin of loss for us and this is with us little boys playing 9 big boy games in that time frame.

I like our chances in our game against ISU. Even though we lost a lot of talent on the defense that held KSU to 41 yds rushing (looks like you guys held them to 226), we will return a lot of experience and talent in Littlejohn, Beck, Thorton, Dudzik and Heagle.

I predict a score of 27 - 10 NDSU, avenging our 2009 loss.

As opposed to recruiting weak and soft kids who can't tackle?
That's a genius idea they have going on up there in Fargo! I wonder when other football teams will catch on to that recruiting tactic?

Because last years stats mean a whole lot in this game. Great analysis. Regardless of the what ifs of playing an FBS schedule, the fact is, you aren't FBS and you never will be. Enjoy your JV titles.

That's nice. But it seems to me you don't have to be FBS to beat a bottom feeder like ISU. Let me know when you move up to that level of play.

Because your dunderhead bison butt buddy keeps saying NDSU would compete and dominate in an FBS conference. It really doesn't apply on the first game of the season, but if waterbuffalo keeps lauding your FCS championships as reasons NDSU would compete and dominate in an FBS conference, it is relevant.
