Getting outbid by UNLV was the beginning of the end :mccaffery:

I wonder who fred will get. He’s had a pretty tight circle. I think loenser is a good guy and a good coach but he doesn’t have a ton of recruiting experience. Doc isn’t going to recruit.

Czar Nicholas II had to fire his cousin, Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich, as commander-in-chief of Russian forces during World War I because somebody but the Czar needed blamed.

This was despite the fact that (1.) the Russian war effort was a goat rodeo from day one and never improved, (2.) the Grand Duke did about as good of a job anybody could in a bad situation, especially after those clowns Samsonov and von Remmenkampf stepped in a beartrap at Tannenberg, and (3.) Hindenburg and Ludendorff considered the Grand Duke an excellent commander and were glad to see him leave.

The Czar replaced his cousin with himself and things only got worse from there for the Russian war effort, Russia itself, and most of the royal family ended up murdered by the Bolsheviks somehow.

The points being --

There always needs to be a fall guy.

After the fall guy is gone, there's nobody left to protect the boss.

Unless things improve, they can expect an unfortunate fate.

Don't get me going on this. Female recruiting hosts should be banned. FB & MBB have non-coaches on staff and in the case of FB about 20 redshirting football players who can host recruits.

IMO female recruiting hosts is part of the dirty under-belly of college athletics. Similar to the Harvey Weinstein issue with Hollywood.
Why any parent would let their daughter get involved in that role is beyond me.

Some parents sign their 6 yo daughters up for beauty pageants, pay for selective plastic surgery etc.

Some neglect to build lasting relationships and thus have little say of their sons/daughters choose to do things like this.

I’m sure there’s a decent percentage of parents and girls who are totally oblivious also.

Maybe they just want to be involved in the football program and have no idea. I think coaches and players shouldn't be scumbags and we wouldn't have issues.

NCAA rules regarding student hosts for official visits were changed years ago in response to Oklahoma State using a harem of sexy female students as hosts (note: they weren't the only school, but they were the school that broke the camel's back). Now, only current student athletes or students who the office of admissions uses for campus visits are allowed to host recruits on official visits.

Hi there, please meet Crystal Chandelier, she is majoring in public relations with a current credit load of 3. (And she may or may not work at the Lumberjack on the weekends)

This is going to be a huge problem. With NIL, we may have to have a federal bail out program for the college basketball bagman industry.

So to recap, MA has been accused of being a bagman, philanderer, and theft of university funds to feed his gambling addiction…that’s a lot of character flaws for one of the highest paid state employees.

I always laugh when people think the Hoiberg/Matt A regime here was clean.
Same. I'm not even upset about it, either. I don't have like crazy information but pretty solidly know that college basketball recruiting is a game and Hoiberg/Matt A played it, especially with transfers. It's just a part of how it works at this level for most programs.

Prohm is the only ISU coach in the last 15 years that didn’t play the game. And the results speak for themselves.
