I listen to quite a few Ringer podcasts, some of my favorites:

1) Binge Mode - this is an older podcast that isn't releasing new episodes but if you like Harry Potter or Game of Thrones, really a must listen. They also did a season on Star Wars and Marvel as well.

2) Plain English - podcast covering a wide variety of topics where the host starts with a monologue explaining the topic for the episode and then he'll bring on a guest to break down the different sides of the issue.

3) The Town - A Hollywood business podcast. You want to know what's causing the media stock decline or how the writers strike is going, this podcast is for you

4) The Rewatchables - as previously mentioned, basically a complete breakdown of "rewatchable" movies.

5) The Big Picture - podcast about movies. I find their takes on movies to be fair. Sometimes I find movie critics can be overly dismissal of blockbusters but not the case here. Like all Ringer podcasts, about once a month they'll have a draft episode where they'll invite a guest (usually Chris Ryan) and they'll draft the best movies from a specific year or career.

6) The Press Box - this one is a bit topic dependent for me but the premise is they cover how the media is discussing the topic of the week.

7) Dave Chang Show/Recipe Club - Also topic dependent for me but even though I'm not all that interested in the art of cooking, Chang is hilarious and he's got a good report with his cohost.

You'll notice I didn't list any of the sports podcasts. I find them all to be just ok. The Fantasy Football Show is probably the best of the bunch but to be honest the fantasy advice is meh. Funny group of guys though. I prefer the Athletic for my pro/college coverage (Athletic Football Show/Andy Staples Show)
Binge Mode is legendary. Binge Mode:Harry Potter is my all-time favorite. Some of their running jokes are incredible.

"No safer place..."
Minerva "McGalleon" McGonagall!

LOL

Have you tried Ringer-Verse's House of R? It's Mallory Rubin from Binge Mode, whose knowledge of these stories may only be surpassed by her co-host Joanna Robinson.

yes I forgot to add that one. I think I prefer Midnight Boys to them for Marvel/DC/StarWars but for traditional fantasy like GoT or LotR those DEEEEEEPPP dives are awesome.

Mallory needs someone with comedy chops to pair with because by herself or paired with another like her it can get a bit dry. And for several of these Marvel properties of late I don't really need to listen to a 3 hour podcast lol.

I will leave the political ones out.

PM your high-level interests in that realm if you want to go down that route.

ALAB Series

Three attorneys sit around and talk about some of the most hilariously brazen and unethical stories of the legal profession. Seems to be discontinued now, but they have a good backlog.

Last Podcast on the Left

A dark/absurdist comedy about tales of the macabre (e.g., cults, the occult, supernatural events, true crime, survival situations, etc.). Their humor isn't for everybody but I like their storytelling.

Political Beats

This is a National Review podcast, but it has 0% political content. The two hosts and an invited guest pick a musical act, from the 1950s through today, and talk through their discography. It is a good way to learn more about the history and catalog of favorite bands and a good introduction to new ones.

The Bill Barnwell Show

Barnwell is probably the best writer and commentator about the NFL -- very nerdy and analytics-driven but also has a "gee whiz" and self-deprecating nerdy charm about himself that I appreciate.

The Martyrmade Podcast

Cooper's politics are... controversial, to say the least, or at least complex... but he's an excellent storyteller on historical topics. Very similar to Carlin when it comes to longform historical podcasts. I would recommend his lengthy series on the history of Zionism (Fear and Loathing in the New Jerusalem) and his absolutely fascinating and revealing series on the history of Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple (God's Socialist).

Told in Stone

Garrett Ryan has a Ph.D. in classical studies from the University of Michigan. His podcast discusses various historical topics related to classical antiquity, and he invites some of the most august historians in the world on these topics in for conversations -- he's an excellent interviewer in the medium.

Last Podcast on the Left is great. I find them hilarious and I love when the focus on a major true crime story, JFK, Lennon, various serial killers it's multiple parts and long. I love podcasts that go over 2 hours.

Rewatchables - fun podcast with Bill Simmons (and guests) where they dive into movies deemed "rewatchable". Just listened to one yesterday on Dumb and Dumber.

Also would second Smartless.

Office Ladies is a good one if you liked the show.

Third smartless.

I like rewatchables when it's a movie I enjoy but seems like for everyone they do I like they do 8 I don't like.

I absolutely loved the Andy Staples Show on the Athletic and I gave him a shot at his new home at On3. It's awful. Way too many interviews, he needs to settle on a new sidekick to play off of. The problem is On3 would have to hire someone to do this because I don't think they employ anyone else capable of it at the moment.

The Until Saturday podcast the Athletic started after Andy left is better but still not as good as the former Andy Staples Show. It's basically subbing David Ubben for Andy Staples, which is a downgrade.
