Iowa State stuck its toe into Texas waters once again to pick up its 17[SUP]th[/SUP] commitment of the 2013 recruiting class.

Bryan Ajumobi, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver, verbally committed to the Cyclones after taking an official visit to Ames, Iowa, over the weekend. Ajumobi chose Iowa State over offers from Air Force, Navy, Colorado and Tulsa.

“I loved the people there. They were so embracing,” Ajumobi said. “They all loved me from the get-go.”

Ajumobi became the sixth Texan to commit to the Cyclones, but he is only the second receiver to commit -- the other being Brandon Harris (Cedar Hill, Texas/Cedar Hill). Ajumobi’s size and skill set makes him an intriguing recruit.

Ajumobi caught 11 passes for 204 yards last season. Of those 11 grabs, five went for touchdowns. He has seven catches for 100 yards and a touchdown through three games this season.

Ajumobi said playing in the Big 12 played a big role in his overall decision, but watching the team perform in a 37-3 rout against Western Illinois made him want to pull the trigger.

“I loved the work ethic that I saw,” Ajumobi said. “Everything about it -- the weight room, watching the offense on the field -- everything was so good.”

A player with 4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash, Ajumobi was recruited by Iowa State receivers coach Luke Wells.

Welcome, Mr. Ajumobi. Think it is great you responded to the work ethic you witnessed.
Solid get - 2 service academies & a PAC 12 school were after, too

Where was Quan West on the depth chart? I know he moved to TE, but not even listed among top 3? Is it a thing where he isn't grasping a new position, or is he just behind upperclassmen yet?

From what I can tell he probably still belongs at receiver, but there's no room for him there and he is up to a tight end's size.

Well, I sorted the roster by name, and don't see a "Bryan Ajumobi" there...

I assume he was responding to this previous post about West since he referred to a receiver moving to TE.

He's no longer listed on the roster. I wonder what happened. I hadn't heard of him moving to TE, but with the WR depth we have it would make sense. I thought this kid had a ton of potential. Best wishes to him if he is no longer with the team.

So Ajumobi is a TE now? I don't see him on the depth chart. I assume he moved ahead of West though and that's why Quan left the team.
