I see two things as possibilities. Either the team falls apart and makes the NIT, or they use Fred leaving as fuel and make run deep in the tourney.

I'll keep my feelings about the same regardless of the coach:

A similar season to the last one, possibly a win or two in the NCAA's.

We will be without him too. Players make a team Pre Season Top 10, not coaches.

I don't think you understood what I was saying. Do you think that the players can just do whatever they want to do on the court with every coach out there?

If all the key players stay, and I think they mostly will, and the new coach allows them to play an uptempo offense like they've been playing, i think they do well. However, if we bring in a new coach who likes to play half court, slow it down, etc then there's a ton of uncertainty.

I think any new coach will see the way this team has played offensively and will try to continue that offensive strategy as it fits this teams offensive abilities quite well. Where I think you'll see a difference hopefully is that a new coach will also make defense a priority... something that Fred struggled with.

The new coach will be what Steve Fisher was taking over a talented team at Michigan. :)

NCAA tourny appearance. I think that's reasonable. Expecting anything more is expecting too much in a year with a new coach.

So if they hire a coach who's a half court kind of coach, he's going to forego everything he knows to coach a style of play he's not that familiar with coaching and has no experience doing so? Okay...

I agree with you logically, but in practice it just doesn't happen that way most of the time.

I'm sure we will have it all the ways. Uh-huh.

Still one of the best teams in ISU history. I expect them to struggle early with a new coach at the helm, but they will get it together about 1/3 way through the BIG 12 and Id say make Sweet 16 again.

Struggle Early.............Does that mean a loss to UNI?????????????????

Give me Thibs or Horny at the helm and this will be one of the best ISU teams, maybe even best, ever. If a guy like TJ takes over, I'm not as confident. This team is loaded with stars that there's no way we don't make the tourney. I'll answer this question better once the new coach is announced.

I haven't seen anyone post something like this.. so what are everyone's expectations for next year's team with Hoiberg all but gone? I'm going to try to add a poll but I have never done it before. I think that we win the Big 12 regular season and make a run to at least the sweet 16.
2nd place in the Big 12 regular season behind Kansas. Advance to the Elite Eight.
