Re: New FB Commit?

Holy crap that is one smart kid - I think the ACT for the rest of us goes to 36.....

With smarts like that, maybe he has special powers and can just play the Jedi mind trick on opposing linemen.

lol, i was wondering if anyone else was gonna catch the SAT/ACT thing, I just wanted to let it slide, but you went there SO: Maybe he can use his brain power to invent a new style of defensive move that conserves energy for long games, but is more effective than a swim move, bull rush, and spin move combined and it leads to a 22.5 sack avg. per game for Marshall in '08.

Re: New FB Commit?

It's recruits like this that make me wonder how people are so ready to melt down and never purchase season tickets again. There is hope.

Who are these people?

I think what is more rampant on these boards are people who TALKING about others going off the deep end, than people ACTUALLY going off the deep end.

I spend alot of time here :)sad:) and I'm not sure I've seen a single post saying that they're done supporting the program. Yet I continually see people posting about others flipping out.

D'OH!!! I meant SAT!

And I went back and checked and it's actually an 1120. Not 1200, but still a smart kid's SAT score, (my SATs were 1130, ACT 25)

You made up that SAT score for yourself...just can't stand to have somebody a little better than you huh? If it really WAS a 1200 for Marshall, you'd be saying you pulled a 1210...I wish there was a "tsk tsk" emoticon for you

You have to like the fact that Chizik is getting talented athletes that do well in school. Mac was taking too many chances and it resulted in too many academic casualties and attrition in our recruiting classes. It is better to get a pretty good athlete that will at least be available rather than a really good athlete who has NO CHANCE of qualifying.

Re: New FB Commit?

Wasn't everyone freaking out about recruiting just a few weeks ago? Contemplating the JC route and everything else?

Fact is, Chiz and the staff are still new, still getting into the high schools and kids' homes. I don't think we were really well set up for a lot of early recruiting success (meaning early in the recruiting season), but I do expect that we'll land a few more solid recruits like this one before the deadline. Despite our (very) poor play, Chiz does seem to be doing things the right way (honesty, education, conditioning, etc.), which will go a long way with recruits, HS coaches, and parents. We just need to give the kids time to get to know our staff, and I'm sure the rest will work itself out.

Marshall appears to be a great recruit. Go Clones.

we were contemplating the juco route because of the fact that we have targeted a lot of high ranked juco players, which i hope we still get some of. i love the fact that Chizik and co. are pulling in these high school kids but at the same time, I think that the program is going to need to get some of the junior college kids they are going after right now. whoever we end up getting to come to school here, I just hope they can play

Re: New FB Commit?

Not to burst everyone's bubble on the great SAT score, but they redid the SAT scoring 2 years ago and let's just say that a 1120 isn't so hot, actually according to, SAT - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, he is in the lowest 15th percentile, but let's hope he still makes it to campus as everyone knows those tests don't mean that much.

Re: New Commit!!

And is he the same one who made 52 tackles for losses out of 70? That's him. Berryman type.

I'm assuming that the 1120 was on the 1600 point scale, in which case he's still in the 61st Percentile.

If he's class of 2008, then the earliest he would have taken it would most likely have been spring 2006 (if not later, since I doubt he would have as a sophmore), which means it was the new SAT. So yeah, it's out of 2400.

I didn't know they changed the SAT. That sucks. I hate how scores are not comparable. Then I have no idea what is going on anymore.

The GRE changed a few years back too. Glad I was able to take it on paper.
