So, it isn't posted yet but I wrote a little deal on the offense about what we needed. Outside of continuing to build depth on the line my biggest need was a big outside receiver similar to what Marquis was. This it. Either that or he will be a pass catching tight end like Franklin. Either way, it's a guy we could use. I was a big fan of Cedric Gilbert last year for that position but I think this is better. He's not a blazer and IMO, probably won't be your superstar but he is guy who will compliment guys like a Teddy Lampkin or Jarvis West if he lines up outside or if he is a TE split out. Also, 4.65 is fast enough to be effective when you are 6'4 and probably 220 by the time you play.

I really like our recruiting strategy right now. We're targeting kids that obviously have talent and proven successful on the field. They are the kids that already have offers from some of the smaller programs but a lot of interest from BCS programs. Coach is the first of the big boys to offer these kids which is weighing heavily on their minds leading to earlier commits or at least sticking with ISU as some of the other BCS schools come in later with offers. Keep up the good work.

Lone Star Reports (texas.rivals.com) have Quan West ranked as the fifth best WR in Texas (class of 2012).

From what I've been able to find he's somewhere in the region of 6'4" to 6'5", attacks the ball in the air and plays extremely physical. Also considered one of the top WR's in the state of Texas. Sounds like a great pickup to me, exactly what ISU needed.

"Quan West also had offers from Tulsa and Western Michigan. And Texas was just at Willis H.S. today to talk to the coaching staff about him."
