New/Recent Grads: Don't be this guy.

There's just no jobs in this town....unless you want to work 40 hours per week!
 
nothing worse than recent college graduates. First of all, they all think now that they have graduated college that they can act smug and pretend they enjoy the finer points of port.
Second, in this environment take whatever is given to you

i agree, dont know him, but want to punch him in the nose... sounds like a freaking pansy... 40k a year or sit at home... parents, kick him out, he will then have no choice...
 
He's either naive, dumb or arrogant. I still can't decide on which I'm leaning to. But it's not uncommon: a friend was laid off one year ago and he held on for a while not to apply for the field where he used to work although he would have gained advantage as he's familiar with the job. He's still jobless until this day.
 
this guy is an idiot. Get a clue and parents need to show some tough love

And once they are hired: they think they are the center of the universe. Worse: after their first promotion, they'll think that they're Gods and Goddesses
 
My first job out of college sucked big time, but I knew it was only temporary. Heck we joked that the entire company was just post graduate education because no one stayed or planned on staying for more than a year or two. But I took it gladly to get something on my resume and get some experience.

Working for an ISP sucks in case anyone ever thinks about it.

but on another side he majored in political science, i mean if you do that, you might as well **** away your degree
 
I blame the parents. They are enabling him to wait out for his so called "corporate" job. If he didn't have a place and food paid for him he would of taken the job.

I don't see where he can get promotional opportunities with the attitude. If he's smart, he'll be able to prove that he is more beneficial to his employer by doing more than just low-level jobs. He fails to look at the big picture. Right now, he can say that he doesn't have debts, etc but the fact is still he doesn't have jobs. Let's see how long he can last.

Agree with you re: political science major and history minor. No offense, but why would you hire someone with that background to work in the job he was aiming at the financial services industry ?

On the other side, if he made the deans list at Colgate, you'd think he'd be smart enough to know that he needs to find a job and make his own promotional opportunities. Even if where he is at is "a dead end job", at least he would have experience and can move to other companies.
 
If this guy was so set on a corporate gig, why the hell did he not do some sort of business major? Why is he not looking to go back to school and get an MBA? This is almost as bad as that article about the girl who went to Columbia for religious studies and couldn't figure out why she couldn't get a job to pay off that debt. How dumb are these people?

Yea, I guess I missed the part where he wasn't allowed to keep looking for a better job if he took the "dead end" one.
