New Track & Field Facility

This 5 million was probably private funds that HAD to be used for track and field.

And as nice as bowling in the south endzone would look... it's not needed right now IMO. We wouldn't even be able to fill it, with the exception of the Iowa and Nebraska games. Sorry to say it folks, but the demand for more seating at Jack Trice is just not there yet. Now if Rhoads can string together some 6+ winning seasons, then we might have to consider it.

Let's begin talking about Hilton renovations next year if the MBB team does better. The WBB, Volleyball, and Wrestling teams are all putting out results...

According to hurdleisu24, ISU has 1 million pledged for this facility already.

There is a one million dollar pledge for the track, and I wanted to post that here, but when I asked if it was okay to publicly state where it was coming from I was told that with the economy where it is and the possiblility of investments going south that it might be wise to not say anything (since the pledge was made in better economic times). Still, the pledge is there in good faith and I bet it will happen.

I think the Ames High track cost around $600-750,000 and that was for the surface only. Just going on hearsay about that amount so maybe someone here knows how much it cost to build a track these days.

Oh, speaking of facilities, I may have the honor of being the first person to be thrown out of the new basketball practice facility. I live near there and thought I might take some photos and send them over to sports information in case they wanted some recent ones. I didn't check with anyone beforehand. So I went inside and was in there about three minues when I got tossed for no hardhat, no long pants, and also not having prior permission to be there. Anyway, the baskets are up and it looks great in there. The baskets are suspended from the ceiling. No basketball floor yet.
