Since my last poll where I tried to tell everyone that Park should be starting a lot has happened. That poll was pretty ridiculed and apparently the thread was deleted. IIRC, Lanning was by far and away everyone's pick to be the starter going forward with Tiller a close second via write in. So let's see where we're at now...

It is pretty clear the staff wants a pocket passer. Lanning is not that type of QB and will continue to struggle. I think you have to go with Park.

Park had a few nice throws in garbage time. I didn't see anything that would suggest he is better than Lanning. The problem is more than just the QB. The whole offense seems to be a mess. No running game. Oline problems. Penalties etc.

This. The problems on offense go way beyond the QB. It's change for the sake of change, which is what we had at the spot the last six years with Rhoads. Rotate through quarterbacks all you like; it won't matter until the staff can piece together a decent o line and jump start the run game. FWIW, I vote Lanning to start this week. Park throws a much better ball but other than that he didn't do anything to win the job on Saturday night.

Lanning has shown he isn't the guy. The question is still can Park be the guy, but we already know Lanning isn't the guy unless we go to a run heavy offense.

TCU is going to be another blood bath. Might as well let both guys play and see which one is less bad. The less bad QB can start against SJSU and get the victory train running.

I don't want players worried about one mistake leading to being pulled. This is a mentally fragile team already. In this case, Lanning has seven quarters of making mistakes and his back-up showed glimpses doing things he hasn't been able to do in the two games. I'm not at practice, but it would appear Park has earned more playing time.

IMHO until Park throws it right to a defensive player he should get a shot. Two games in a row the defender seemed to run a better route than the receiver. That's not good.

What grinds my gears was when that pick happened last night, Lanning had tight end WIDE OPEN!!! Instead he picks the guy 5-10 yards ahead of him with 2 guys on him. That to me shows that he made a bad decision and we can have that especially for a very fragile team like this.

I've been very pro-Lanning, but his inability to make the simple throws is what is making me think they should consider change. I mean, there were 4-5 throws on Saturday that a D1 QB should be able to make in his sleep that he completely whiffed on. When you are struggling, you just can't have that.

And the wide receivers were making great routes and getting open and Park showed that. I think if you give park a chance, he will actually do well. Even my dad saw that and said to me "he's a **** lot better then Joel was". My brother in law who watches tons of football and was once recruited by Iowa said park should be next qb. What do we have to lose?? Give him a chance and let him show us what he can really do.

I think you have to take what you saw on Saturday with a grain of salt - yeah, Park was decisive in the pocket, got the ball out quick, and he throws an effin' beautiful spiral. He was also playing a defense that had called off the dogs and gone vanilla.
I guess the next logical step if Lanning continues to struggle is to start rotating him and Park so they're both going against the same competition. May the best man win.

Not the first time he was out there. That was still first team for Iowa because King and Jewels were still on the field and he still drove the ball. Yes after that but think about this. Even if the second team was on the field for the rest of the 4th quarter, Park made good decisions and threw to the right receiver. The 6-15 pass completion did not tell the story either. Out of the 15 throws he had, he hit at least 11 of them right on target. If you go look at Lanning, he had plenty of wide open guys he went to but made terrible decision making or was completely clueless out there and got sacked. To me, Park showed more mature decision making then Lanning did.

The offense appears to favor a guy like Park. Lanning was perfect for last year's offense (and offensive line), but not this new style.
