It's beginning to look like the Vikings might get one of the three player I want:

Jimmy Clausen, Kyle Wilson or Dan Williams.

All of them were top-half of the round projections.

I'm really hoping for Dan Williams. He would be a great pick.

but I liked Tebow as a college player a lot.

First they fire their legendary coach who won two super bowls
traded their 2nd best qb to the bears, thanks by the way
got rid of a top 5 receiver in marshal and replaced him with a wr from an option offense
now wasted a 1st rounder on a 4th round qb

Pete Prisco from CBSsportsline.com is doing a pick by pick analysis. The Tebow pick got an F, with the following comment:

Analysis: By far and away the worst pick in this draft. Wow. How can you justify trading away Cutler and picking this kid. He's a fifth-round pick -- at best. Now we know why Josh McDaniels will last one more year in Denver. Horrible. Just horrible.

I like Tebow a lot more than most - but this is an extreme reach.

I love the people who ignore Tebow's shortcomings and fall back on the "He knows how to win" mantra. You know who else knew how to win? Eric Crouch. What's he up to these days? Tebow may very well end up being a good NFL QB. I have my doubts, but it could happen. But he's far too big of a project to be worth a first round pick.

The only thing I question about the pick is when it was made, and what they had to do to get it. I'm pretty sure that he would have been there quite a bit later. They got a good character guy and an intense competitor.
