And apparently you also can not count on Big 12 officials to follow the rules, and actually wait until 10 seconds to make the call.
I agree with ya buddy, just no excuse to pick up the ball there.

The only thing I can think of is that Niang thought Mckay was going to come straight to him and turned after Niang has already let the ball go. Looks like down the court to Mckay or Morris would have been better.
Then this is still a case of Niang not thinking. McKay shouldn't be getting the ball here. McKay is the worst free-throw shooter on the team, and even if he wasn't the window to throw that ball is small as ****. There is no reason to pass that ball in-bounds, period. That isn't on Fred, that isn't on McKay, it is 110% on Niang.
Here's a screenshot of the situation right after Niang passed the ball.

He passed to McKay who was obviously covered. If it was a poorly run play, Niang had a timeout to call and didn't call it. It appears he just thought he could fit it in that gap.
They have combined for 17 turnovers the last two games. That's not something we can ignore. What is going on with them?

Hogue passing gives me nightmares
Yep. McKay and Hogue in the starting lineup is just not working. I would be okay with a 3 guard lineup to start the game:Houge is just not comfortable at the 3, imho.
He is trying to be more of a shooter, more of a passer. How many times has he tried to get the ball to McKay when it just wasn't there? He is trying to much to be a guard instead of a forward, and it's just not his strength.
I think he is much more effective as a small 4 than as a big 3. Much more. CFH has some lineup work to do.
10 second violation where he literally tried to walk all the way up the court and ran out of time? Inbound pass where he threw it to no-man's land instead of calling timeout and they scored the go-ahead bucket?
Don't blame Niang, blame Hoiberg. This nonsense of Niang bringing the ball up the floor should have ended a LONG time ago. We have the best assist/TO point guard in the nation, yet we continually let one of the league's most turnover prone players bring the ball up the floor? You have got to be ******* kidding me.
Look, Monte should be bringing it up, obviously... But EVERY player on the court should be able to beat their man and get past half-court in 10 seconds. Niang was trying to be cool and just walk it up the court. Then he realized he was running out of time and picked up his dribble. That's not on Hoiberg. It was a bonehead play.Don't blame Niang, blame Hoiberg. This nonsense of Niang bringing the ball up the floor should have ended a LONG time ago. Monte should have the ball in ALL situations unless he A) is not in the game B) can't get the ball (which wasn't the case here as Niang had ample opportunity to hand it off) or C) he is forced to pass. It's not rocket science, and it's not the first time it's cost us a game, or made a game a lot closer than it should have been
Inbounded the ball with 31 seconds left. Call was made with 21 seconds left. That's 10 seconds.
