Royce was 6'7" I believe, at the NBA combine. Niang looks a little taller, but it's often hard to tell from photos

My guess is that Georges minutes will come when Ejim is on the bench. I think Gibson and Booker man the 5 while Ejim and Niang man the 4.

I just don't think Ejim or Niang have the size or capability to guard other 5's.

May the best man win.

However.. I still think Booker will get the most minutes this year. He's just so much more experienced. He knows what it takes to get it done on this level.

With that being said though... Niang has a MUCH higher upside than Booker ever did. Niang is just a VERY skilled player. Has great post moves, can use both hands equally well, possibly a better shooter (debatable), better ball handler, and higher motor too. The sky is the limit for Niang IMO. He can be as good as he wants to be. I just think he will probably take a little time to adjust to this level of play, which Booker won't. But Niang is going to be very valuable for us this year IMO. He will play quite a bit. He's just too skilled not to.

1. Booker has a pretty high motor himself.

2. He may have a high motor but he was struggling a lot with conditioning last night. Booker I'd think is a lot more physically fit at this point.

I think people need to not worry about what guys are doing in the no defense, score at will CCL as a gauge of a players ability in D1 college basketball. Niang has huge potential, but the guy hasn't played a minute of college basketball.

We joke about the CCL as having no defense, but its not really true. The reason they score so much is that they shoot so quickly. Niang on Brackins last night. Babb on Garrett last Friday. Lucious on anybody last night. There are guys playing some tough defense.

Niang will have to earn his minutes, but I could see him getting a lot. And not because Booker is bad. He plays hard on both ends in the CCL. And his body is more seasoned for the pounding it will get in the Big 12.

I love having competition for positions and good guys coming of the bench.

I might be wrong on this, but I believe Booker may have been more highly-rated coming out of high school than Niang was.

I liked what I saw out of Booker in Louisville, at least against UCONN. Given more minutes I think he can be a solid producer. I would also expect Niang to get major minutes this season.

Booker, Gibson, Ejim and Niang will all play a ton of minutes next year and their production will be critical to our success or failure. I would be all four start at some point.

I think we could have a thread like this for Corey Lucious and Naz Long. We are going to want to have both on the court!

True, depth isn't going to be an issue this year.

I'm invisioning 40 minutes of hell Anderson style.

I know Fred won't let them play that loose, but I'm thinking we should be able to wear other teams out this year.

Babb and Lucious are going to be really tough on defense too.

Leave it to cyfanatic to have someone make a stupid thread like this based off CCL games. Facepalm.
Niang looks sharp and will get his minutes, but I am with others in that we play who we need to play. Besides, Booker is only good for 20 minutes max before he will foul out lol

And honestly a 50/50 split between booker and niang might not be bad this year.

Keep both of them fresh, and bring a little something different to the table between the two....then throw in gibson and ejim....well im off track again.

I think Booker and Niang will get similar minutes, maybe 20-25 a game

As far as I can tell, almost everyone who has posted in this thread recognizes the CCL for what it is. And welcome to the "stupid thread" that you couldn't resist using to express your own opinion about Niang ("looks sharp").

Starters:
Lucious
Babb
Clyburn
Ejim
Gibson

Second "team":
Lucious/Long
McGee
Clyburn
Niang
Booker

I'd play booker and niang together, booker pulls the big man out to the perimeter, niang goes to work inside, clyburn and mcgee still big time outside threats.

Solid 8-9 man rotation. Bubu gets a few mins as well.
