I guess the people on the KU board wondering why an ISU fan would post on their board about a Cyclone are not aware of tuco?
Most on that thread feel Niang is going to have a big year. For the most part it's pretty positive towards him.

If people are worried about his game, just check out the praise he has received at the camps he visited this summer.

If his growth stayed the same he'd finish pretty close. Hard to say he doesn't have a shot when he'll actually be the primary scorer for the first time in his career.

The teams are going to have too much talent for a run at individual scoring records.

I like that problem.

It's doubtful but not impossible. He has 989 career points now. Let's say that over the next two seasons he plays seventy games and maintains his scoring average of 16/game last season. That puts him at 2109 for his career, 3rd on the alltime list just ahead of Fred.

But just for fun, let's say he averages 20/game this season. Certainly possible. If they play 35 games that would put him 1689 points going into his senior year. And let's say that he averages 22/game that season and they play 37 games. In that scenario, Georges Niang breaks the all time ISU scoring record on a buzzer beater three to clinch the national championship game.

Could happen.

Full disclosure: I'm awful at math and I didn't double check any of my work.

I'm not saying it's impossible either but he seems to be a win-first type of guy.

Yeah, I hear you. I was being kind of tongue in cheek with that post. Hoiball fosters unselfish play, so it's unlikely that we'll see a 20-22 ppg type of player anytime soon just because of how the ball is distributed.

Yeah, we wouldn't be a winning team if Niang were to score that many points in games. One of our strengths is utilizing so many offensive weapons that defenses are not able to shut us down by concentrating on just one person.

Please don't quote twocoach, he's on my ignore list. Thanks!

He is on mine also but the occasional quotes reaffirm why I have the db ignored. Now if everyone ignored him he wouldn't be displayed and would no longer exist here. Ah, cool thought.

It's so funny to watch some people are worried about him losing strengths because of this weight loss. He did this because his strengths and conditioning coach told him to do so. They have a professional staff member who works with him 24/7. He didn't just lose weight, he did this to make him improve his game. If you think he lost his strengths or any part of his game, you are dead wrong. He is probably much stronger and quicker than he ever was.

Can't wait to see what he can do with this transformed body.

Thought he broke his fifth metacarpsal when he stepped on someone else's foot. Looking for more assists from him this year.

Just to play devil's advocate (and it's a bit of an aside, as I agree he's probably stronger, obviously leaner, and likely quicker), some post players benefit from having... uh let's say... a bit bigger derriere as it helps them create space when working with their back to the basket. Which of course Niang is as good doing if not better than facing up. I remember this was part of Jared Sullinger's game.

I don't expect Niang's production to go down in any way shape or form - quite the opposite - but I will be keeping an eye on that aspect of his game.

Again, I'm playing devil's advocate.
