Somewhere in the U.S.
So can people finally admit that Fred left us in a pretty ****** situation?

Not sure what word is starred out, but I don't think people will go quite that far, and I don't think they should.

I'm not sure Fred could have much control over it. About all he could have done differently would have been to come out and turn down any NBA opportunity/rumor and hope they would go away, if that was what he wanted. But that is not what he wanted. Eventually the NBA was going to get FH as a coach. Period. It is probably as good that it happened now as any other time in the future.......I don't think there would ever be a really good time for it if CFH had had continued success here at ISU.

I think he tried to recruit the last couple of years, but none of us know how difficult that might have been with the NBA rumors out there. Not just from the standpoint of not being able to tell the recruits if you were going to be at ISU or not, but also how other schools no doubt used the NBA rumors against him.

Fred made his choice, and saw his opportunity now. Sucks for ISU in a lot of ways, but at least he left the program in very good standing/shape for this year (although with a short bench as it turns out) and hopefully JP has found the right man and staff to continue the success. This should be a very good year for this team, and we have to believe that CP and the seemingly excellent staff of recruiters he has assembled can capitalize on that for the future. 2016-17 may be a slight step back, but hopefully only a temporary hiccup. All depends on this year's success, the recruiting, and the coaching abilities of this staff.

At the very least, it will be interesting (and probably a little frustrating) to watch.

Perhaps that Mizzou transfer will give us a look yet. Would definitely help with the sting of the NN situation.

Do you know that he wasn't enrolled in classes or are you asking?

Going with the comment from Coach Prohm that he wasn't aware of the situation until he returned from Spain.

Prohm would have have been fully aware of the first set of problems, per the Ames Tribune:

Noskowiak was also charged with unsafe lane deviation on May 20. He refused to take a test for intoxication on May 15 after the incident with police occurred on May 8, according to online court records. - See more at: http://amestrib.com/sports/men-s-ba...ended-facing-multiple-charges-wisconsin#.dpuf

Had he been enrolled in the summer, these issues would have been open knowledge in Ames. These aren't "family issues." These are personal issues and OWI is an immediate suspension. The suspension came after the Spain trip.

Two open now for mid-year transfers, if any good ones pop up. And one more for next year's class. It's going to be huge recruiting class.

Helluva run for NN at ISU.

I'd be on his side more if he owned up to his mistake and stuck around. I wish him the best. But there is that but.
I think from what Fred had said about other players, that you're spot on. He always talked about maturity, owning mistakes and showing that they've turned a corner. The biggest difference between those guys and NN is that the other guys already when through their issues or hit their low point and were on their way back up. Hopefully this is NN's low point and he can start his climb back up.

Yikes....and of the 9, that includes two guys coming off injury? (Long and Ernst) Not good. Don't even like that we only have 10 when Burton is back. So, Babb, (GT's and NN's now vacant ones) are the other 3, right? We could have filled NN's now open schollie as late as July, as there seemed to be several transfer guards out there transferring late. If only the staff would have known that NN wasn't going to work out, but that's hindsight. Of course everyone has jumped on the bandwagon when hoping that the kid get's his life back on track and that basketball is secondary. I hope he can too. But there's no denying the chance TJ took on him has backfired. Unfortunate.

Were really going to miss his 1.7 mpg this year. Jfc.

There is no way Nick even had the option of sticking around. Today's announcement was simply a good bit of PR for Iowa State.

Who said we'd miss his points or minutes? Ever heard of bench depth and quality practice players? Glad you already know that Cooke and Long will be 100% healthy and another scholarship player couldn't have helped us, especially with Burton not eligible till December. (jfc yourself)

We now passed TCU an Tech for bottom spot in 2015 recruiting. Yikes. We really need a 4 star for 16 or something major before we lose all momentum on the trail.

new coach plus amazingly solid roaster equals low recruiting and prohm still did good.

Looking forward to movement on 2016.

Looked at the 2015 class rankings and it was just another reminder of how huge of a class 2016 is for us. Make or break for Prohm imo.
