So many things happened in this game that were GOOD, more than the not so good. For fans to nitpick and criticize this team now, after they tried desperately to win a road game shorthanded, is shallow, imo.
Tech played well and we couldn't close the deal, and yes there are some plays we'd like to forget. But to dump on our guys who are busting their butt for our university and who must be heartbroken they couldn't pull it out, is called being a 'frontrunner'. Now isn't the time people. Lets get behind them and continue to support! Beat Texas!!

McKay wouldn't have won this game for us.

The he team is trying. They are tired and make stupid mistakes.

I can support the team and the players and be disappointed at a loss in a game Iowa State should have won that brings our once-promising Big 12 season down to a pedestrian 6-5 record. Not mutually exclusive.

It was a quintessential ISU athletic loss:

1) Exceptionally stupid play (intentional foul) - Check
2) Horrendous luck (banked in 3 at end of shot clock) - Check
3) Get shafted by the refs (goaltending) - Check

This season is shaping up a lot like Texas from last year or Okie State with Marcus Smart.

Hopefully we can go further in the tournament than those two squads.

I'll continue to support wholeheartedly and appreciate the effort of those players that choose to leave it all out there. I'm just done getting my hopes up. I guess I'm in the acceptance phase.

Absolutely. We're all disappointed. But no more than our guys and coaches. My point was referring to criticizing, second-guessing, blaming, etc. which was reference to a different crowd.

I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that we played hard and with heart.
More disappointed that playing well with heart still resulted in a loss to team that is projected to miss the tournament.
More the realization that this isnt a top 20 team is taking hold, add to that the pundits had us in the final 4 when in reality we won't be top 4 in our conference.

we do realize that pundits having us in the final 4 doesn't mean we were going to get there, right.

We lost our coach who apparently didn't require the team to practice so understandably they don't respond to a coach who wants to practice.

We we lost a starter for the year and another starter is a basket case.

Many of those same 'pundits' came to our preseason practices and emphasized there was no depth, couldn't afford the top 5 or 6 off the floor. Some fans came unglued at the suggestion. The carry-over from last year ratings people don't have a clue about all that, like we do. There's a reason we were picked to finish 3rd in the conference, not 1st. Not to mention the big12 is ranked the top conference. Now....throw in a senior injury, an uncompleted recruiting fallout, and a coaching transition for some players struggling to buy in, then you have this result. We've struggled with adversity, I agree, but many of us never did think 'Final Four'. A lot to expect considering the circumstances. Compare that to Iowa who has four starting seniors with an experienced junior, no starters' injuries, no coaching changes whatsoever, never never has to change their play due to foul trouble, and a bench that didn't have to change schools because their lead recruiter or coach left. Call me a 'softie' if you want, but I don't think those lofty expectations were ever fair or thought out. Now our team is paying the price, twofold.

You are right on the first one, BUT I will contend that had Georges not "fumbled" the ball away on the offensive end, Nader wouldn't have been tempted to foul the guy. The terrible offense led to the run-out. I also think you need to put a NUMBER 4 -- "TT shoots unconsciously throughout the game from three" -- (yes, 10-25 by Tech is "unconscious" and their shooting wasn't because of poor defense being played).

The fact of the matter is we still lost to Texas ******* Tech and now will likely finish 6th in the conference. This team deserves every single bit of criticism they get

Ok...so you say McKay wouldn't have won this game for us, but then you say they are tired and making stupid mistakes.

A big reason they are tired is because McKay isn't playing, you do realize that right? Stupid mistakes come from being tired (see above to where McKay was out)

I'll support this team wholeheartedly because they are out there fighting when they have, seemingly, nothing more to give. That one extra body can make a world of difference.

i think part of the problem is that everyone assumes tech is horrible.

I I also think that it is likely that 6th place is maybe 2 games out of first.

They might not be horrible, but they do have a losing record in conference. They are they type of team we are supposed to sweep. Splitting with teams that aren't horrible doesn't do us any good, and it doesn't matter how many game out of first 6th place is, it's still 6th place out of 10. That's not good.

so a solid RPI doesn't matter?

Not when they most likely won't keep a solid RPI spot. They still have at least 4 or 5 more regular season losses coming which would give them a regular season record somewhere near 17-14. There is no chance that record keeps them in the top 50.

If I hear the "Gosh golly gee, Beav, we just need to keep supporting our team!" crap one more time, I'm going to barf.

Seriously. This is unacceptable. Losing to Texas Tech is unacceptable. Losing to UNI on a neutral court is unacceptable. Losing sizeable second half leads in multiple conference games, two of which were at home, is unacceptable.

This is a team which has the talent to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, and because of the incompetence of the coaching staff and the utter selfishness, immaturity and laziness of these entitled players, they'll be lucky to make it to Dayton.

Stop enabling failure. The only reason it continues at this school is because so many of you revel in it.
