I would hold it and see who comes available with all of the coaching changes. There will be some good players that are interested in reopening recruiting once the coaches that recruited them left. We certainly can attest that! If we can get a 3+ star guy to come in than I would use it. I would use the same standards that we would use to offer a 2008 prospect. Having a scholarship available this late in the game could be very valuable, let's treat it that way.

I'd Say Bank It

It seems to me JUCO kids that last til spring seem to have too much academic or off court baggage.

The only way I'd use any available scholaship this spring is if G-Mac can get a 4 year player. The potential might be there with coaching changes.

The other concern might be the academic progress rule, not sure if it is cumulative or not.

I wonder if Altman went to Iowa if that PF from California that choose Creighton over ISU would reconsider? Just a thought.

I have no answer to your question, thus the reason I asked my initial question about him. yawn

Your initial question was "what about this guy?" This implies that we should think about (at least) giving him a schollie. If we offer him a schollie, and he's performed poorly in the classroom before, why would we "waste" a schollie on him for one year/semester? This would also really hurt our graduation rate, which, as of late, has been doing quite poorly altogether.

It'd be nice if we could get a recruit that decommits because of a coaching change. Michigan has some studs and then Creightons recruits might be available. Jai Lucas was leaning towards Kentucky, now who knows. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

I haven't heard anything about Dodie leaving due to academic trouble, but rather going somewhere that the academics better suit him.

I'm too lazy to go find it, but somebody posted in Jeremy's initial thread on this topic that they saw Dodie on Friday at Alumni Hall; he was reportedly dropping several classes on the last day possible. Assuming it's true, that would imply academic trouble. FWIW...

I'm very old; when I was at ISU, Alumni Hall was a rat-trap of a dormitory occupied by ISU "legacies"; everybody I knew that lived there was like "Flounder" from Animal House! :wink0st: I knew it underwent an extensive renovation, but what's in there now?

Now, when people come for Campus visits, that's where they go. Also, the add/drop office is in the basement. It's more of an admissions office now.

I was lazy and didn't read all of your responses, but I'm pretty sure McDermott said in an interview that AT wouldn't have a scholly next year unless someone left. I would assume McDermott would live up to his word and give him one. Even though CM and another guard are leaving, i feel pretty comfortable with who is coming in.

Unless we can find a 4 star recruit, give it to Alex.

::yawn:: I wasn't attacking you, just asking you a question. You stated that he may have had academic troubles in the past. If that's the case, why would we offer someone a schollie that may not be able to keep up with the rigors of the student part of the student-athelete?

Maybe Dodie is wanting to be a biomedical engineer and ISU doesn't offer the program...
