Based on recent drafts the Giants will need to move into the top 3 if they want Haskins since he's arguably the best QB in the draft (depending on your feelings about Murray).

Not sure what I was thinking

They might have a plan to address the D, who knows. But they traded the #17 pick and their first round DB pick from two years ago, and now have one 2nd round and one 3rd round pick. Getting OBJ is very splashy and their O looks pretty sick but it might be the personnel equivalent of skipping leg day at the gym.

Beckham just seems like the type who's going to have **** going on no matter where he is.

Giants are going to suck hard for a long time.

FIFY. A lot of Giants fans that I listen to feel their management in a few short years has become the worst in the league. And it stems from their refusal to say goodbye to the corpse known as Eli Manning.

I'd feel more sorry for my dad if he didn't actually get to cheer on a few Super Bowl runs.

They did boost their Dline with that lineman from Minnesota and it sounds like they are working on a trade to get Earl Thomas from Seattle.

Word on the CBus sports talk is that Baker Mayfield is a big driving force on personnel decisions on offense.

Best comment I've seen about this off-season so far:

"Steelers: We’re gonna go ahead and light our roster on fire.

Giants: Hold my beer.

Eli: (fumbles beer)"

Testifying
Maybe OBJ will be more focused in a town with minimal night life.

Pretty crazy, 2-3 years ago the Cavs were the hot team (minus G.S.) and the Browns were a dumpster. Boy has that flipped.

Going to be rough as long as Eli is back there but with Saquon and Engram we have two nice skill guys in place, thankfully they're finally addressing the OL, and with 2 of the top 17 picks we'll get QB an can get a stud WR to fill Beckham's slot.

Going into a rebuild usually starts at the lines and works outward. You don't start a rebuild with a generational talent RB and go from there. He's going to be decrepit before they can actually compete.

The situation the Giants had put themselves in with OBJ was bad, but under the circumstances they made out pretty well. I like the deal for both teams. John Dorsey is absolutely killing it right now for the Browns.

The Giants need a hard reset, and those extra picks will help quite a bit (they might also get a third or fourth round comp pick for Landon Collins in 2020). The rebuild can't really start in full until they finally cut ties with Eli, but in the meantime they should have some decent young talent to work with.

Basically agree but Saquon is a once in a generation talent at RB, no way you pass on that. They're addressing the OL with last year's draft and the other recent trade. Nobody expected Flowers to be the bust he's been. Hopefully we land Haskins at 6 and they take an OL in Ford or Dillard at 17 to keep building up the line, or they take an edge. This should be Eli's last year starting, in 2020 the OL should be a lot better than it's been, Haskins would have a year of learning under his belt and Barkley and Engram will still be elite weapons at their positions.

Giants, two weeks ago: "We didn't extend Odell [last August] to trade him."

Also Giants: trades Odell for peanuts and leather scraps

Top-tier management on display. Gotta start somewhere, I suppose, but I sure hope those draft picks strike gold.

Earl Thomas is a free agent. They wouldn't have to trade to get him. For as good as Thomas is I don't know how good a fit a thirty year old safety would be for a team that is by all appearances rebuilding. He's going to be expensive and I'd guess he wants to go to a team that can win now.

All while Nick Chubb averages 5 yards a carry on ten carries a game. For a first time NFL HC Freddie Kitchens has his work cut out for him. That's a lot of ego to manage.

I think the Giants did well. And I also think the Browns overpaid......for NY, it might be addition by subtraction.

There are teams that are willing to accept problem children, and then there are teams that aren't. I'd bet those that aren't tend to have more, and sustained success. (Don't know how I'd prove that, just a hunch.)

I think it just depends on the team culture. The Pats have never been afraid to add a "problem child" and sometimes it's paid off handsomely - Corey Dillon, LeGarrette Blount, and Randy Moss - and sometimes it's come up bust (Chad Johnson and more recently Josh Gordon). Other teams with weak management or leadership are asking for trouble by bring a volatile player on because he could pretty easily poison the well.

Agree you couldn't pass on him. I just think they should have moved on from Eli about 5 years ago, or at least started thinking about a backup/succession plan. But as a Cowboys fan, I hope you guys keep Eli forever.
