When I was 19, I resolved to never make another New Year's resolution. I've actually been able to keep that one.

Hello! I was AWOL last Friday, so I didn't get to post this then.

It's sort of a CF tradition to have a thread about your new year's resolutions:

2019 2018 2017 2016 2015 2014 2013

So - what are your resolutions for the new year and decade?

I'd really, really like to get this swearing **** under control at some point...

1) drink less wine
2) spend less quality time with my inner sloth
3) get rid of mo' stuff, cleanup, be less of a house slob
4) scan old family photos, new faster Epson 550 will help

I don't want to, I need to lose weight. And the new year just happens to be when I am getting this wakeup call.

5'8" and weighing 265. It's the heaviest I've ever been.

I need to get back in shape again. Lost a bunch of weight back in 2012 but gained like 70lbs between then and now

2020 goals......a giant, ambitious list as always. Last year was a lot about trying to get some semblance of control over life and a lot of transitions. This year I have a lot of things I want to learn about so I think growth is the theme.

Health/Fitness
  • Maintain or slight weight gain by EOY
  • Do local race if cleared by PT and not feeling lazy
  • Graduate PT (should happen this month I hope!)
  • Continue doing workout program + challenges
  • Add small health habits
    • Use standing desk 2.5 hours per week
    • Park further from work...and everywhere else too I suppose
    • Take lunchtime walk when weather permits
    • What else could I add? Get up 10 minutes earlier to do stretches? Meh
  • Get to bed on time 60% of work nights. For real for real
  • Try to do 1 early am workout per week?
  • Transfer health clinics. Dr is leaving and since I think they mismanaged my delivery anyway, good time to transfer
Home & Garden
  • Get patio lifted
  • Level section of landscaping
  • Plan & plant section not impacted by potential future patio work
  • Plan garden including new stuff like raspberries and maybe strawberries
  • Get hooks and similar crap for garage to hang stuff up
  • Slowly work through another round of decluttering everything. Holidays at home with pack rat parents has me itching to recycle and donate
Professional:
  • Keep pushing for projects that are engaging and valuable
  • Take courses on 3 subjects
  • Keep using list to track daily projects and dedicate weekly time to clearing inbox
  • Push for projects for team/recognition of their growth and contributions
  • Lean into working with colleague who could use the help and gives you better access to exciting work that stretches your skills
  • Keep pushing on policy and cultural change
Financial:
  • Max accounts again, potentially up % contribution?
  • Meet with a legit advisor to see if we should be doing anything else at this point
Personal:
  • Read 12 books
  • Go on 12 dates, preferably with DH
  • 6 fun family things with toddler
  • Have 10 events with friends
    • Related, take food and provide real help to friends having two babies at once time
  • Finish cross stitch for toddler
  • Use your fancy planner dammit
  • Look at new hobby like crochet?
  • Vacation? Iffy on this
  • Visit two new state parks
  • Go to two new restaurants
  • Try 12 new recipes (one down already!)
  • Probably something else too but already a long list

My resolution is to finish reading your resolution list without feeling terrible about myself.

Good luck with the 12 dates thing. Keeping your options open (preferably with DH) was the way to go. If he loves you, he shouldn't mind baby-sitting while you go on a few dates.
