CMC’s offense can be very effective, especially with a defense like ours. The problem is, we are missing Breece Hall/David Montgomery this year. Brock was filing the void pretty well until injury, and Norton has the talent to potentially carry the torch but again injured as well. Then in addition we don’t have the TE’s like Kolar and Allen. Although our TE’s have looked good when thrown to, but they don’t get thrown to much.

Biggest problem is we need an OL and ST’s for that system as well.

Dekkers really isn’t that type of QB either. He’s more of a gun slinger who should almost always play 3-4 wide. Let him air it out and let him run when receivers are covered. He should have a deep route option almost every play, as well as medium, and safety valve/dump off. Mix it up.

This^^^. After a big play, when you run up with "tempo"....don't then stand up and look over at the sideline waiting for a play. Because whatever play you were going to run in "tempo" is probably just as good or better than the one coming down from the OC after he studies the defense.

And if for any reason you don't have a play ready to go........then don't act like you are going "tempo". No one is fooled anymore. Just go into huddle and get the play from the sideline.
I've posted about this a couple times. I want to see more rhythm. We don't have to run jet tempo or anything but get in a solid rhythm to keep momentum and the D back pedaling. Instead we get to the line look like we're going to run a play and then stop and stare at the sideline and stand around then snap it with a few seconds left. I feel like it's part of the reason we false start. Also Dekkers seems at his best when he can get into a rhythm and not think too much in between plays. Our current operating procedure may win us the time of possession battle but who cares if we aren't moving the ball or scoring points.

I do like the 3-4 wide idea to fit Dekkers's and the WR's strengths. The receivers may just need quick stuff that's downhill and to it.

Sling it around and then line up and do it again.

That may also alleviate some of the pocket mess/issues.

Anytime ... and I mean 95% of the time ... when Rus motions and then stops at the traditional blocking-back position, it's going to be a slow developing handoff run.

Stop doing that. It's basically telling the D what play you're about to run.

I think our TE’s (including Rus) have less than 200 yards on the year combined and 120 or so of those yards were against SEMO and Ohio. If they are a not in the game plan, might as well go 4 wide because defenses know they aren’t a threat.
They have been under utilized all year, no doubt. Thought the blocking from the TE's was good and one big catch was improvement based on what we have been seeing.

I disagree Dekkers is 4-5 wr type guy.

IMO he's a playaction 1-2 MAYBE 3 read type guy. Hopefully this changes with experience, but that is what I am seeing right now. It's X, Check Down, or force it right now.

And hes not getting much help right now either. What is telling to me is that Stanley, a transfer from COLORADO is the only other guy besides X that is getting separation (occasionally Noel does on crosses). We need help here. Needing a dedicated WR coach IMO

The play that told me everything I need to know with Manning as the OC was when K-State was showing multiple blitzes between the tackles. Dekkers reset and looked over for a potential audible and we still ended up running right into the f****** blitz. Manning either audibled to that run play or it was the play originally called and we still ran it when you knew it was going to fail. I was at a complete loss for words when we ran that play.
