Almost sounds like we are going to have the exact same offensive philosophy but we are not going to call our OC Tom Manning.
The style of offense we run can be successful (as we saw when we won the Fiesta bowl). The playcalling just has to be better in the red zone, and the OL has to massively improve.

We can have the same philosophy on offense. It was misguided to think Campbell would go to a full spread or air raid.

It’s a matter of using more creativity, off balance attacking of defenses, and being effective in the red zone. As well as running an offense that uses your current player’s strengths vs what we saw this year.

Having said that I would personally prefer an outside hire who’s been an OC. I think bringing in fresh ideas and outside perspective would benefit the program.

“Experience” is overrated. See Collin Klein.
I agree but Arbuckle is 4 years removed from being a college QB. 2 years as a Texas HS coach and 2 years at WKU- 1 as OC. He probably has a bright future, but seems like a big risk by Campbell. It would be like hiring Kyle Kempf as our next OC. Klein has been a college coach since 2014 (KSU & UNI).

My bigger point was is WKU's success because something Arbuckle created or is HC Helton responsible for WKU's prolific offense. I tend to think the latter. If that's the case, why not offer Helton some coin to come to ISU?

I'm guessing Campbell is still looking for a power football background and doesn't really care about PPG.

K-State is what Campbell wants to be offensively.

Which is fine and probably is the best chance for ISU to sustain success.

Much more needs to go into it though than just who the OC is.

Whoever it is, whatever the style, there's a ton of process improvement on a number of levels necessary for the offense to be good.

The plays in the playbook aren't why Manning is out.

I sure hope we can refer to more recent achievements these next three seasons. The Fiesta Bowl win is going to become like referring to Number 33 scoring four touchdowns in one game with Polk High.

And if you’re going to use a bunch of 2 or 3 TE sets, the TE’s should be good at either blocking or catching, but preferably both.

Something we also didn’t have this year.

Eh. Campbell will keep things in-house as usual. Nothing too outside the box. Little disappointed Meyers hasn’t been let go yet. Offensive line needs the most work, in my opinion.

Winner. Look in-house, someone that used to be in one CMC’s houses, or someone from Ohio.

Coming from the guy who started a thread about the greatness of Earl Bruce???
I just stated a current fact. CMC wins one game to start the season and I will start a thread congratulating him. :) Perhaps with this new, potent offensive attack he can surpass A.W. Ristine’s win percentage. That achievement would be thread worthy as well.

Feels like the writing is on the wall naming NS “interim” OC
Heavens .. I hope you’re wrong. Steelhaase is in charge of RB/WR. These were 2 glaring issues as our running game is nearly non-existent. And our wideouts constantly drop passes and are not fleet of foot ! Pls Matt for the love of god hire a guy with some explosive offensive experience.
