Did Texas actually offer, or just show interest?

I think 247 says there was an offer, but Trey Scott thought it might have been a mixup with his teammate who was also a DE. There is no way it is currently committable at the very least.

The kid is still a stud though.

Looking at it now it looks like a Texas recruiting insider predicted that he would go to Texas in the crystal ball on December 8th, but that is the only prediction until today and I don't see an offer on his list from Texas right now.

Wow. Getting Gray, Ayeni, and Warren would be awesome. Would Gray be a safety do you think? Or will he be on offense? He's listed as an "athlete" I believe?

Also, my dream finish to this class would be these 3 guys above, and then one of the other DT's that visited too.
2 down 1 to go.... I can see gray holding out a week unless he feels.pressure with last spot...
Gray is the #60 RB per scout. A safety per rivals an athlete per 247 To put it in perspective at running back he was rated better than Mister or Warren. Pretty sure it was reported by someone we are recruiting him at cb. So what if Johnson and Gray both want to commit this morning? Good problem to have I guess:)

Yeah, even if they just showed interest it's still kind of cool to have someone like that commit to ISU

I think JT Gray is a "take no matter what" guy. Not a problem for the staff. I'm sure these 3 guys were our top 3 targets. And I'm guessing we have another scholarship or two open just due to regular attrition.

Agreed. Should be a solid player for us.

Again, I'm thinking we have at least 5 slots available...perhaps even 6. So I think if Gray and Johnson both want to commit, we take them. I still want Gooch and a Juco DL though, so there's going to have to be some tough calls on the part of our staff/coaches. It really sucks if you have to turn away kids you KNOW are talented enough to be important contributors. Good to have such choices, but still not an easy call.

Sources close to the program have indicated that Warren committed because we gave him the best nickname: "Wheels."

2014-01-26-10-42-54.png two commits move us from 59th best class to 51st per 247. Warren and Ayeni are also our 2nd and 3rd best rated recruits on the 247 composite. Not a bad day so far.

I like how that gives a punter 0 points.
Why the class rankings are dumb. I can't figure out how they do it. Sometime you add a higher rated recruit it does little and a lower one you jump. The points you actually get also aren't same as the +rating. It's wierd. Seems they try and also equate it your perceived need. No matter how you slice it we always have a way better class if you simply add stars and average them (compared to other teams). Kickers are way more important than they give them credit for. It is almost a negative to have him in our class.

It could be that the recruiting analysts aren't experts on ranking K and P prospects. Not to mention teams usually only take a K or P once every 4 years for each position.
