Jeff Jones has been on our radar for quite some time. Maybe the early interest will pay off. Especially if Lazard goes after him!

Anoher DE to watch... Nile Sykes - Yahoo! Sports

and a DB who was at junior day with tommy mister... Lamar Dawson - Yahoo! Sports

seems like dawson is taking some visits with mister. if mister chooses ISU, and we offer dawson then i think he comes here too. not sure how good he is, but i like his size for a CB. lazard tagged both of them in a twitter post

Nothing wrong with Illinois football. Moved to the West Suburbs ten years ago and I can attest that there are some great players around here.

I don't think he was complaining, just wondering. As am I.

Maybe because there's a lack of good football to the east, and CPR is stepping in to fill the void?
That doesn't make sense. If there were a lack of talent there, why would we be recruiting it?

Traditionally, ISU has gotten some good talent from the Chicago area (Tracy Henderson, Reggie Hayward). I'm guessing CPR has decided he's got the program in a position to compete with the B1G teams now, so he may as well allocate some resources there.

Or maybe all those flights to Florida go through O'Hare, with long layovers...

agree. we were serious contenders for a couple stud DEs last year from chicago as well. if our 2014 class is as good as i think it will be, then watch out for the cyclones in a few years!!

I think he meant a lack of good football at the collegiate level.

Just looking through the recruits the last couple of years and we've only had one high schooler since CPR has been here out of Illinois. Bibbs technically is from illinois but played JUCO in Arizona. I just thought he figured that it was getting picked over by the big 10, Iowa, and Notre Dame and that he would have better luck elsewhere. A lot of the time kids want to play in the conference they grew around and it made it a lot more difficult in big 10 country. Maybe with the new facilities he figures he might be able to land some of them.

Also, when I first saw this thread title on the New Posts page, I thought we were discussing how to compete with Kansas for getting conference officials in our pockets. I didn't see it was in the Football section.

I don't have an insider account, but the headline ends in a question mark so it may just be a case where they are trying to get people curious to get more people to register.
