I like this Trey Scott guy. Lots of good, new information.

I am all for Jucos, but I wish we had the ability to redshirt them. I understand the point of a Juco is to contribute right away, but take Coe for instance. I think he could have thrived much better had he been able to redshirt this year and have 2 years of good play. Instead, we get mediocre play the first year and possibly good play the next.

Agreed. Look at Brun's contribution last year. Unfortunately he has been hurt this year.

Darius Reynolds redshirted as well and he had a very good senior year.

We're a year late on the JUCO linebacker that we need this year, but we could use another one for next year because we're painfully thin. I think we need a top notch JUCO safety and one inside guy and one outside guy on the DL. I hope we grab 4-5 ready to play, legit guys. I think at an Iowa State, we can benefit from taking 3 or 4 top notch JUCOs each year, because we're going to need to take a few more chances on out of state guys, particularly in spots like DT which are so hard to recruit and there are so few true can't miss guys. I prefer to be able to redshirt them, but a December grad can be just as good and many JUCO's don't want to redshirt.

I'm not sure why you want him to RS so badly. After watching the Tulsa game he is our 2nd best DT IMO.

Normally I would say yes, but with Knott, Madison, Meeks, White, Webster, Seeley all waiting in the wings, the talent could be there more in the future and we just need someone to fill the role until those guys aren't all freshmen.

Is it wrong for me to enjoy not seeing Jevohn Miller on your list of "waiting in the wings"?

You sure you watched the Tulsa game?

Twice, because I'm a football junky. And the second time I watched the DT's pretty closely. Irving didn't have the stats but would easily be my Defensive player of the game because his disruption allowed other players to make big plays. Coe was solid, only out of a position a couple times and his speed on stunts are going to give a lot of O lineman a lot of trouble this year. Really unimpressed with the other DT's.

Sorry, I misread your original post. Thought you were saying the JUCO DT would be our 2nd best right now. Irving and Coe did look good in that game. Hopefully they can do it against Big12 OLs.

Probably why they're looking at Clinkscales.
