The only thing giving me hope at this time is Niangs mom. She said that she made Hoiberg "pinky swear" that he would be the coach for Georges time at ISU.

If a man breaks a pinky swear he is dead to me.

Way up there
Live in Chicago, listening to Waddle and Silvy radio show on the way home from work and first postive news about Hoiberg in awhile. First, Stacey King bet the hosts dinner anywhere that Thibs will be the coach next year. Then Mark Giangreco (local sportscaster) seconded King's view, saying Thibs was at a local restaraunt and obviously didn't want to talk about it but said "that's all just talk" and followed that up with saying he is hearing how happy Fred is at Iowa State.

It's nice to have a different POV, the only problem with that is, if Thibs is still in Chi town, we have to do this same thing over and over again every offseason until he isn't. What ISU fans need to hope for is, Thibs gets fired, anyone else takes the job and either wins it all or tanks to lottery pick levels. That's the only way the Bulls job gets out of our lives

Coach, ISU can't write a check as big as the Bulls or Timberwolves can. But Chicago and Minneapolis can't love you like Ames already does. If the NBA is your dream, I won't blame you for chasing it. But our dream is the Final Four. So forgive us if we chase it by asking you to stay.

Some think the T-Wolves job is his whenever he wants it. IMO the Bulls job and the T-Wolves jobs are the jobs fans need to worry about him taking.

Barney found ISU fans location on the crazy-hot scale.

People can say that and be right but they have to realize it is the sole reason Hilton is Hilton and it's the sole reason we have the facilities we have. If we didn't care far too much, those things wouldn't exist.

Have you seen 95% of this thread?

Would the article have been in bad taste if it was posted the day that Fred leaves? (which is 100% going to happen, by the way)

Well yeah... I mean it's not fair to expect the guy to live forever.

Here nor there

I wouldn't expect This to say otherwise.

All this talk about what was said about dreams is silly. Fred always was an NBA guy that loved ISU, but had no college coaching experience. It is likely after 5 years in college he realizes the NBA makes him and his family the happiest. He may not have felt that way coming in.

Hoiberg is simply ready to jump to the NBA IMO- it wouldn't surprise me if he went somewhere else than Chicago. I wonder if he sees a guy like Kerr and regrets passing last summer. He could have been NBA COY. Plus, I think he emotionally takes ISU losses like we do as fans which may wear on coaches more than a job at the pinnacle of your profession.

From an ISU perspective I think this desire has been handled poorly for the past 3 years.

I totally agree. I can see a scenario that has Fred/ Thibs coaching one more year, then this transaction happens. Either way, Thibs has an expiration date no longer than one season.

You would think the HC would have an impact on who they draft. Idk for sure but it seems like Fred and Thibs would be looking for totally different players in the draft.

It's not the draft, I think just determining draft position.
