If he is listed as a possible LB/DT, why not just split in the middle and make him a DE? Looks like he is at the weight you need to be at DE, plus if he is listed as a LB, he probably has the speed to be at DE as well. It would be nice to get someone where you don't have to "grow" them in to a defense line position so they could just learn how to play the position, rather than do both.

James Reed did fine with the switch--and wasn't that big in high school.

I wonder if Jackson was injured his senior year? Most of the recruiting articles (and high profile offers) seem to be from his junior year.

I think I misunderstood his HC, Mike Riley didn't make a joke about his speech did he? He said Mike Riley but then said something about a HS coach. Real **** move from an "adult" either way.
Could explain why Riley's Huskers are supposedly out of it though.

Trey Scott @ 247 had a crystal ball on Demond Tucker just a day or 2 before he committed. Went and pulled Antoine Albert's profile up, and lo and behold:

Interesting you made this post. After checking his Hudl video, he plays a lot as a stand-up OLB versus an ILB or a DT. Seems to have the quickness/speed for potential edge player. Would have no problem getting him & have that happen. Think he is talented and that is simply what we need, regardless of position.

And his nickname is 'Money'. Well, that could be a positive or negative depending upon the views of those on this board!

I see where South Florida has hired a new DC (Tom Allen, from Ole Miss), and it appears that they have scheduled an official visit for Stephon Brown, CB from Osceola HS, Kissimmee, Florida. I certainly hope that our coaches can hold onto him. I thought that Stephon Brown had probably the best senior highlights of any of our high school recruits. Stephon has incredible closing speed. His highlights are impressive.

Although we are getting into the recruiting battle quite late on Robert Windsor, DL from Fond du lac, Wisconsin, I hope that somehow we can get him to Ames (on an unofficial visit) and impress the heck out of him.

Iowa State has shown some interest In Dayton Balvanz a 6'5" 185lb. punter from Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls,IA.. Dayton was ranked as the fourth best potential college transfer punter in the nation by Kohls.

Dayton is a very talented punting prospect. He has a long lean 6'5 frame with good hips and explosiveness. He showed the ability to kick FG's and KO at a high level. He charted and had solid drill work at the 2014 Midwest Showcase Camp. His strength is his punting, where he was clearly the best punter at camp. He generates clean spirals and great distance on his punts. He is a talented D1 punting prospect.

Punter U. Hopefully we won't need him much next season...
