Prentiss Nixon - Colorado State
6-1 180lb guard
Sit 1 play 1
16.1 ppg 3.2 rpg 2.0 apg 33% career 3P shooter. Started 69 (nice) games for Colorado State
Same guy who tweeted this. Nixon played HS at Bolingbrook in Illinois where this Garrison fellow coaches. He also coached Zion Griffin in AAU.
Didn’t put up great numbers at MSU but he was recruited by ISU back when he left Louisiana Tech. Doubt ISU takes a look but the name rang a bell because he was one of the first targets prohm had when he got hired.

ISU also offered Eli Wright. Highly ranked (#80) Shooting Guard out of KY. I agree Stapleton probably isn't a target but I could see the staff making a call to Eli.

I'd argue 6 for 4 is a problem. You add a Mooney then that bumps someone who has been in the rotation. Chemistry is important to a team.
NWB and Shayok are seniors, Lindell and Lard potential all conference players and THT 35 top recruit won't be losing minutes. I doubt Young 2 year starter, Lewis and Griffin top 100 recruits, and Talley senior would be happy not seeing the floor for player they don't know brought in during the summer.
I am fine with the staff looking at all players including grad transfers but, it isn't as simple as just adding a potential shooter.
Team dynamics are important. But our backcourt wasn’t nearly good enough last year. Avoiding upsetting guys by depending solely on their improvement seems risky given they’ll be gone after next year anyways.
Imo it’s as simple as adding a player better than what we have. If a guy is good enough to play major minutes and not be completely redundant, you take him,
Depending on the grad transfer, we have a lot of minutes available. Less for Wigginton and NWB. Shayok was a 20 minute/gm guy at UVA. Lewis has a ways to go and THT is a freshman.
Prohm’s tried to go farther than 6 or 7, but the talent wasn’t there due to how prolonged the coaching transition was in terms of recruiting. Is it just me, or does our fan base stress out more than others do on 'who' might be offended/leave or 'what player' may not get as much playing time as they want if we try and build an even more talented, deep roster to compete with the big boys? I don't care whether Orr, Floyd, Eustachy, Holberg, Prohm, or whatever coach it is, likes to play mostly 6 or 7 guys, it just seems to me that plenty of the elite 8 teams had lots of talent on their bench and it was a 'good' problem to have. Heck, I think Loyola had more consistent perimeter scorers and a deeper rotation than we've had several seasons.

I agree it's important to worry about the present and stack your roster as much as possible, however, there can be unintented consequences as well. Players like Lewis and Griffin are two giant building blocks for our future. Land a grad transfer like Mooney and they are all but removed from the rotation next year. You can't help but worry about them being POd they were recruited over and transferring out. Even if they stick with the program hard to develop riding the bench. At the end of the day you have to recruit as much talent as possible.
