I am so envious. The little spritz I heard hitting my flat roof last night for a minute or two didn't even register on the official rain gauges (aka dust bins) around the Twin Cities.
I was out in the driveway working on my car when it started sprinkling for that little bit. I didn't even bother to rush and get it packed up because I'm that pessimistic!

I did my best to entice rain. Walked for 90 minutes through Wood Lake Nature Center lugging a camera and telephoto lens I do not want to get wet. All I managed were a couple sprinkles. Just got cloudy dark enough to kill the light and ruin photo ops.

How many times have you heard someone say "we really needed this"

A lot, mostly from myself :p. Had moved into severe drought category. Weather station to the west reported 1.5 in June but farm close to us has had less than an inch since May 7th and I'd bet we were in the same boat. Finally stopped raining around 5pm and very little standing water.

Due to the tornadic storms moving through Chicago right now diversions are starting to rack up. Madison and Milwaukee (probably Moline and Peoria as well) will be selling a lot more fuel than they normally do.

I've said it twice this summer and each time there were mayyybe some greener grass blade tips but otherwise everything looked the same if not worse.

The creeks near me hardly budged.

We ended up with 3" in our rain gauge. The official amount at the weather station at the airport (7 miles away) was 1.45". Crazy differences.

Smoke is back once again

Yup. Woke up this morning to see everything sort of yellowish cast. AQI is red here in the Twin Cities.

And another fail at rain. Looked good and radar for awhile early evening, if a bit shallow in depth, but didn't amount to much of anything. Again.

Went on vacation last week, Chicago to New York and Amtrak. Tornados in Chicago and Amtrak from Albany to New York washed out. New York to D,C, and back home through Chicago, tornados in Chicago and wind storms at home. Think I will stay home and hunker down! 1 inch of rain last week.
