Every day this time of year with "nice" temperatures is a day without cold temperatures and one day closer to spring. Most of us know we can see some awful Iowa weather in November and December. We just need moisture. We have a pond by our home and it is the lowest we have seen it in the 30 years we have been here. I grew up here and there are ponds that have dried up. I used to be ice fishing by Christmas and have my permanent shack out by Christmas. I sold it two years ago and it is still sitting beside the guys shed who bought it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this dry weather. We literally go weeks and weeks at a time without any rain/snow.

Yeah, that was absolutely awful last year.

I don't mind a little snow, but when its so cold the roads are just un-meltable ice, that **** can **** right off.
Last year we got that rain/snow/ice right after Christmas and then the temps plummeted. I will never forget driving on Hwy 30 between Ames/CR and realizing we were driving on a sheet of ice.
