Since my part-time job involves driving a truck around eastern Iowa, I’ve been watching the NWS page with interest all week. It went like this:
Tuesday: big storm coming late Thursday, not sure of locations/amounts yet, but northeast Iowa could get a lot of snow
Tuesday night as I went to bed: Looks like the track has shifted, maybe an inch or two for Cedar Rapids, nothing for Iowa City, all is well
Wednesday morning when I got up: Surprise! Looks like 4-6 inches for CR, three inches or more for IC, a boatload of snow further north. Our area of greatest uncertainty on amounts is south of I-80, Cedar Rapids, you’re getting hit. Get your eggs, milk, and bread!!!
Wednesday afternoon: WINTER STORM WARNING for Linn County and northwards, 4 to 7 inches is very likely
…
Thursday morning as I get up: We are calling for about 3 to 4 inches in Cedar Rapids now, and they’re right on the edge of the uncertainty area, could be less. Iowa City might get a couple of inches, maybe, could be less. Northeast Iowa will be topping out at 6 inches, max. Hope you all didn’t freak out yesterday, lol
