I totally agree. Just wait and see!People are attracted to shiny and new, but Watson will be a major factor next year. Mark my words.
No, earlier it was determined that we will win every game by 90.Every game multiple overtimes. Checkmate doubters.
You should try understanding the discussion before responding. The post you’re quoting was pointing out a poster had resorted to a strawman, like you are seemingly wanting to doBy who? This is one of most laughable things I've ever read in the history of this site. He just started every game and played the most minutes on the team as an 18 year old true freshman.
Lipsey, Gilbert, and Milan are locked in stone. Jones might be a question mark though, not sure if he's been promised a starting job or if he'll be happy playing 30mpg off the bench again.
Either way those 4 will play the most minutes again next year, anybody that suggest otherwise is completely clueless.
Agree. Less minutes played only helps during crunch time on both offense and defense. The increased energy will on defense during the game will only wear down the other team more.It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if Tamin/Keshon/Curtis/Milan only had to play ~25 mins/game next year instead of ~30 (assuming it's accompanied by winning). That kind of depth would be a real luxury.
My limited experience with power-5 basketball players is that regardless of the situation they're coming into, they all think they're going to be a starter/star, they all think they're going pro, etc. It's just the mindset of athletes at this level.
I feel like I'm living in a ******* twilight zone. I am taking issue with singling out Milan and the idea that his minutes will be cut and he'll be a bench player next year. That's not making **** up or putting words in someone's mouth. And yeah it's simple math, at current state the starters are KG, Lipsey, Jones, Milan, DJ. At current state if none of our remaining priority transfers hit, they all get 30 minutes a game. My best guess is the staff you prefer them all to be closer to 25 minutes a game. So that's at 125 minutes taken. That leaves roughly 75 minutes for the rest of the potential transfer and role players we already have on the team. Not at all.
It’s been stated Milan isn’t a lock to start, and could lose minutes if we land our top transfer targets. That’s significantly different than what you’re posting.
Agree with you on this one. Anyone suggesting that Milan might move to the bench deserves an automatic ban. That's just flat out silly. Milan would also leave Ames so fast if we recruited someone to take his starting spot.I feel like I'm living in a ******* twilight zone. So yeah I take issue with anyone putting Milan's name in their mouth and talking about him like he's the weak link on the core 4 and not getting "starter" minutes next year.
Strange thread. I trust TJ has a plan and will sort it all out.I feel like I'm living in a ******* twilight zone. He has an offseason to beef up. If he’s hitting the gym and taking steroids, I mean protein, he should get stronger. That will make it easier for him to guard the 4 and be a better rebounder.Playing Milan at the 4 isn’t small ball.
It’s just ball. He is what you want in a 4 spot. He just needs to get stronger and work on rebounding. The guy is 6’8.
This is insane. Allegedly Illinois has a $1M offer
There are ways to protect a "small" 4 as well to help with rebounding. Play a "Big" 3 (Hadley) and "Big" 5 (Jackson/Rock). Lipsey is also an absolute bulldog and rebounds at an elite level for a point guard. Its pretty clear TJ wants 4 out there at all times on offense thatll be a threat from anywhere on the court. Have to get better on the offensive end of the floor.Playing Milan at the 4 isn’t small ball.

Do you put the player that was your "go to" guy in clutch situations, and proved he could handle it, on the bench. I don't think so, but I have been wrong before. That's all I said, and that it really doesn't matter.
I put the best 5 on the floor. I think Momcilovic is one of those 5 but it's conceivable that Jones starts at the 3 next year in his place. My point is it really doesn't matter their both 25+ minutes a game guys.Do you put the player that was your "go to" guy in clutch situations, and proved he could handle it, on the bench. As is typical for this staff, they've identified and targeted an initial priority list of transfer. Those are the ones we've set up calls or visits with. TJ doesn't miss on many of these.I would love another scoring guard thats 6'4/ 6'5 like AJ Storr, Johnell Davis or a Big that can actually score like his teammate Goldin at Fau. Although we massively improved for a 3rd year in a row, we STILL have long stretches where we cannot score and get a bucket either in the back court or down low with out limited Bigs on offensive. Happened to start IL game and many other times throughout the year. Wonder what TJ will do with the final 3 spots.
Emotion? I believe I was told to get ****** not the other way around...And yeah I understand your take and it's a bad take. Hadley could get his "starter" minutes without impacting Milan's minutes. But until proven on the court there is no way in hell Heise or Dailey would take minutes from Milan. Milan single handedly won multiple games for ISU last year and was the go to finisher for multiple games, so unless he severely regresses the coaching staff has already shown their cards with Milan and wanting him on the court to win games. Somehow people forget CuJo was largely worthless for the first half of the season. I'd be more worried for him if Heise or Hadley would be a more consistent shooting threat. That’s because you’re not reading well or so emotional you are resorting to strawmans
If we’re adding Heise, Hadley, and Dailey, which was the hypothetical that started this, Milan is the most susceptible to losing minutes to those three. Particularly if it’s the freshman version of Milan
Don’t think of it as a slight to Milan, but a compliment to the other three. And in terms of complementary, Lipsey, Gilbert, and even CuJo can all be primary ball handlers.
If we were to land those three, or similar, we don’t have locks to start, and very well could have many starting lineups.
