Completely speculative...

Assuming we copy/paste the transfer big class of Osunniyi and Ward...

Lipsey
Gilbert
Jones
Momcilovic
"Osunniyi 2.0"
---
BEST TWO of (Hamilton, Nojus, Pav, and Pierce)
BEST ONE of (Watson, Omaha if he comes back, and Fish)
"Ward 2.0" OR Rock

A couple of the guys in my ( ) groupings up there depart and simplify the problem.
This is what I'm thinking will happen too. Really all depends on getting solid forwards/center this off season

I would be very surprised if our 2024/25 starting lineup doesn't include:

Lipsey
Gilbert
Curtis Jones
Momcilovic

Gilbert & Jones are both 6'4"+, so no concerns about being physically mismatched with a 3 guard lineup in the Big12.

My bigger concern is rebounding/defense from a post group of Momcilovic, Watson, Biliew, Rock, Fish and Portal?

My biggest question is Paveletze. I see potential for him getting 20-25mpg next year as the 4th guard in a 3 guard lineup. But I also see times this year where the physicality and quickness of Big12 opponents makes the game too quick for him this season. But I feel off-season conditioning could be a big help. Plus some offense sets that get him spot-up jumpers off motion/screens. That might help Watson & Momcilovic as well
My money is on:

Lipsey
Gilbert
Mommy
Billiew/Watson
Sr Transfer

Jones
Hamilton/Nojus
Watson/Billiew
Fish/Rock

Pav
Pierce (Redshirt)

This is 2024, not 1995. There's not a big difference between the 3 and 4 in today's game. Based on minutes played, I bet that Tamin/Gilbert/Jones/Milan/Ward or BRE lineup has logged the most minutes this season.

This probably sounds crazy to causal observer but finding someone Robs size that can switch a ball screen and keep a guard from driving is going to be really difficult to do. To points above defensive cohesion this is big. Probably harder to find than someone with Wards athleticism.

What exactly makes you believe that Milan is unhappy in his role here at Iowa State. He has been successful here and even if Wisconsin offers you more NIL it is not a better fit for him with that offense. Plus, assuming the status quo you would have a very good group of guards returning with you in Lipsey, Gilbert and C. Jones. I suppose its possible but as long as we stay competitive in the NIL game I simply don't see many kids wanting to leave a Top 20-25 program (and the best conference in America) to play in the Big 10.
What exactly does your response have to do with anything I posted?

did he not have a girlfriend going to wisconsin when he signed with iowa state?
How would I know? But I do know he has a girlfriend at Wisconsin, a school that did not extend an offer to him out of high school.

I have no reason to believe this is a possibility and certainly not implying I have inside information, but I worry about Watson first and foremost. And then probably Milan.

This is the Big XII not the Valley. Grown ass men patrol the frontcourt.

Depends on the player. A guy like Momcilovic is a fairly interchangeable 3/4. But a player like Tre King is an interchangeable 4/5 in college.

It was interesting during Monday's Houston game that the announcers mentioned Sampson's plan was to isolate Momcilovic on defense and take advantage of quicker 3's. I have been very pleasantly surprised by Momcilovic's defense this year. He has really good anticipation which makes up for his quickness.

I expect one or more of the guards to leave. Someone is going to want to play more and there's too many cooks in the kitchen:

Pav
Jelani Hamilton, who I keep forgetting about
Lipsey
Watson, although he's more of a wing to me
Curtis Jones
Keshon Gilbert
Kelderman
Nojus Indrusaitis

Because you seemed to imply that because he has a gf at Madison that there is a possibility of him transferring. I was simply explaining why that doesn’t make a lot of sense for him. You also seemed to double down on that thought by saying that he never received an offer out of high school from Wisconsin so it was never an option before. I can assure that if Milan wanted an offer from Wisconsin he would have had one.

Milan is 6'9" and not some twig, plus he'll have another year on him. If someone is too "grown ass" for him to guard, there's no way that guy can guard Milan

Anyway, that's the lineup we have on the court the most, already, with plenty of success, I don't know why you'd think they wouldn't start CuJo once Tre's gone.

Its not, King or Watson are in 30 minutes per game.
