This is where state regulations probably need review. The issue comes if the school is certified as an online school. If not, the school can not count the time that taught online.
The new truancy rules could make that messy. It would be hard to prove attendance. This is where state regulations probably need review.
I haven't seen the statistics for the 2024/25 school year, but last school year I recall about 10% of students in the DBQ public school district chose 100% online learning vs. in-person. Would think if a school district offers 100% online to a fairly high subset of kids in the community, they could figure a way to provide 5-10 days of online learning for the 90%.
No more storms! Still cleaning up from the May storm and settling with insurance. But one good thing is I changed agents and he is being very helpful and corrected some errors made by the former agent

So add 3 more snow days on top of the 4-6 that most have packed in already? If they can prove attendance for work from home folks, I think they can figure it out for students. Could be just as simple as giving them an assignment to complete during class time.
Sure, there is beurocracy in the way. But that’s just an excuse to avoid a common sense thing. Give schools something like 3 weather days at home each year. Have schools submit a plan for weather before the school year to be allowed those days. Ensure that each child has the technology required, again before the school year not when it gets snowy or hot.
This seems like an easy thing to do if there is a desire.

Schools in my area have on average about 5 built in. We used 3 last year. One for snow and 2 for state football. Why most went to hours, they can add several days and make it work.No. Allow for 3 home days to count to the total days so if you have a snowstorm, you don’t need to make it up. Our school district doesn’t add more than 1-2 days. So last year we added several days to the end of the school year.
