Current active roster. Bolded is who I would 100% want in October, barring injury.

Boyd
Brown - Spend August in the Iowa bullpen and maybe?
Horton
Imanaga
Rea

Brasier
- Experience + What have you done lately
Flexen - Best fit is multi-inning relief, I do not see this being a need in October.
Keller - Blip might have been an innings management issue.
Kriske - Done well in meaningless time. How is he in high leverage?
Palencia
Pomeranz - Bad July
Pressly - Just don't see them letting him walk given postseason experience
Thielbar

Does not include potential additions of Taillon, Assad, Hodge, and trades

The Cubs are tied for the 2nd best record in baseball. Milwaukee has been super hot for the last two months and that's annoying as hell but nothing we can do about it.

We have managed to do all of that without 3 of our top 4 pitchers for extended periods of time. The FO will make moves in the next week to address needs and then we can obviously discuss if they did enough, but I digress.

The Cubs haven't won a playoff game since 2017 and people want to trade the best player?!?! Is this reality?

No, people don’t “want” to trade him. They want the Cubs to sign him. The problem is we know who owns the team.

I want the Cubs to sign him as much as anyone, but there is 0 reason to discuss a trade either way.

Whether or not you, or anyone, thinks this team can win a WS in 2025, they have put themselves in a good position. Time to enjoy a pennant race. Lets go add some pieces and see what happens.

If Arizona would give up everything we need albeit all rentals for Caissie should we do it?
Saurez
Gallen
Kelly
Miller
Can I get some of whatever you are taking? Of course we'd do that in a heartbeat but AZ would be nuts to do it as they should be able to get several prospects by dealing them all separately.

I'm mostly against trading Caissie unless it's great package but I'd trade him for 2 of any of 3 between suarez, Gallen, and Kelly. Postseason baseball is random but I think on paper that'd put us as the best team based off roster. Still wouldn't have the dominant Ace that's huge in postseason but we'd be at least good in evert aspect.

I would be OK with trading Caissie if we get someone in return that has some cost controlled years left on their contract. Just for a rental I'd probably pause on that depending on the package. It's not a given he is going to be a good MLB player but his value is at its highest right now so I am not against trading him if it brings back a good player with more than this year left on their contract.

If it's a rental it needs to be a package of atleast 2 really good players. A player of control is preferred but if it's the right package of rentals I think you may have to pull trigger.

I stick to gummies, to assist with sleep.
But seriously if you don’t start high you don’t have room to move. Personally I’d settle for three as long as Suarez was included. It’s also possible they come back and say they want young controllable pitching then we get all all four for Wiggins Brown Wicks and Traintos.
