Of course, it could have just as easily gone the other way if they'd picked differently.

Like, WVU should have been in, but its just as likely they drop a first round game too. Most of these teams near the end of the bubble are likely to lose in the first round. Like, some would say this is a reason these spots should have gone to more midmajors, but its not like the ones who did participate did much better in this tournament.
Agree. But my point is why reward 6-12 teams? Sure the SEC was a tough conference, but at some point the NCAA Tournament should be about rewarding teams for having a great season. Which means winning games. And yes, that would mean rewarding teams like Boise State who could have just as easily lost in the first round. But at least reward them for having a solid season, instead of rewarding teams that went .333 in conference games.

Putting a couple 6-12 teams in the NCAA Tournament is the equivalent of a participation trophy. And if the names on the front of the jersey's weren't Texas & Oklahoma not sure they get in. If Vandy, MSU or Mizzou go 6-12 does anyone think they would have gotten in this year?

I find any argument that centers around conference performance to be a poor one.

Conference record\standing is not a metric on the team sheets, and for good reason- a team shouldn't be penalized for playing in a different conference. Resumes are looked at holistically, and the teams that got in, in general, were seen by the committee to be the best available at-larges, regardless of what their conference standing was. And aside from a couple quibbles (WVU, UNC in particular) the committee got it mostly right. Arguing against "rewarding a poor conference finish" is just creating a straw man to knock down because that's not what they're doing.

And bringing up boise state kind of proves that shifting to that doesn't exactly do much. The MWC certainly hasn't overperformed in the tournament lately.

Not sure what you consider over-performed, but if you are looking at this year the MWC was 2-4. And the MWC had teams seeded:
  • 10 (UNM, UU)
  • 11(SDSU)
  • 12 (CSU)
SDSU got beat by Texas another 11 seed. So by my count, the MWC was +2 wins over their seeding!

Also seem to remember SDSU went to the Final 4 a couple years ago. Pretty solid for a non P5 Conference school. So yes I'd take a 14-6 Boise State which finished tied for 4th in the MWC over a 6-12 SEC team.

I have watched parts of 10-15 tourney games. Men and women’s games. Fouls seem to push the game one way or another. USC vs MSU is another case. MSU has both tall girls with 2 fouls in 3-4 minutes. USC was up 17-4. Our last game. We ar3 hot early, a few quick fouls and we are out of sorts and our guys get tight and the game is over fast. Games are getting hard to watch. Will this get worse?
