I’m trying to decide if I should go out and water my flowers this morning, seeing all the rain on the radar flowing toward CR from the southwest, but there’s apparently a magical rain-evaporating system along I80, so … I’m just gonna wait some more
CR area...my yard is starting to go dormant already...I am hoping for rain...so much easier than watering the lawn!

Same in Ames, which surprised me. Went out to mow yesterday and realized it had not grown at all since I mowed last Tuesday so put it back in the garage. Checked my notes and realized I've only had 0.25" since April 28th. Had been so busy that I hadn't realized it had been dry quite that long.

I live in north Ames have been mowing about every five days. They only thing I have watered is my garden a couple of times. Picked up .4" early this morning. My neighbor's yard was starting to turn brown as he mows it about an inch above the ground. My mower is one notch from the highest setting.

I'm on the Southwest side and have been running about the same schedule until now. There have been a couple rains that the North side caught and we missed. Had 0.3" in the gauge this morning.

Multiple rounds today/tonight. I know plants are different but there’s almost no amount of water on a yard that is enough water.

Tomorrow and tomorrow night say 100% chance with up to two inches possible … okay, Jan.

Our forecast has gone from 2.5” to just under 1.5” overnight. Starting to think this one may not be the savior for the yard I was hoping for if they keep downgrading the precipitation.

About a half inch of rain in southeast Iowa.
That's what we're at in Waukee as well.

I just walked around the yard to check on the garden and some other things I planted yesterday and it wasn't too soggy, so must have soaked in (let me believe that), ready for round 2.

I had about .4 of an inch in our gauge this morning in N. Ames, grass has started to turn yellow up here from lack of rain over the past week.

Yeah I probably wasted $80 of grass seed, but I was half expecting it. Thought it was way too late to seed but maybe with the colder temps. Oh well, this is looking like another 2023, 2022, 2021 type year again.
