Streets were generally good this morning. Pulled back in after dropping the kids off. Slid right off the driveway into the yard, back it back into the driveway only to slide down sideways.

2-3 days of 1-3 inches of snow forecasted for the upcoming week.

I was curious what those in the know had to say about this. I saw it on my forecast and wondered what the likelihood is?

Could someone explain exactly how to read this model? Is the amount it shows on the map how much it expects in that 24 hour period or how much snow is expected to be on the ground at that given time? TIA

This one looks like snow depth at that point in time in the model run. Notice how totals go down after Valentine’s Day weekend… this one would be anticipating some melting after the weekend.

GFS looks fun right now but it’s still early. The 12” storm that hit KC and the parallel below showed models of the storm hitting us about a week out until it went south. I think it’ll start to look a little more certain once the models become a lot more consistent over the course of the day.

Not weather, but did anyone feel anything from the earthquake in the Gulf yesterday? It was recorded by North American geologists as far away as Alaska. The tremors should have been felt around 4:30 yesterday afternoon here in the state of Iowa, if my math is correct.

For whatever reason I am normally very sensitive to them and have felt several in the past. I didn't notice anything this time.

Well, I was at the WBB game, so no, I didn't feel anything else.
