Great first half! Who had Demarius Watson scoring in the first half on their bingo card?
Big Rob Energy making up for it in this game too. Nice balanced scoring attack! Let’s keep this up men!!!

Overall, a pretty good half. Controlled the tempo and kept TCU off the offensive glass for the most part. I just hope Cyclones can keep up their offensive efficiency in the 2nd half and can we please shoot a free throw?

We've made a few bad shots and that 3 by Grill late was a bad shot, but our shot selection has been pretty superb. Holmes nailed that 3 that was early in the clock and 7 feet beyond the arc, really a horrendous shot for him to take, but he's playing more under control than he has against any major opponent this far.

We keep playing smart ball we have a great chance to win this.

Too lazy to read all these pages, because I'm watching the game, so it's probably already been mentioned, but where is WARD? Look, I 'do know' TJ has a very good reason but just wanting a reporter to ask him what it is. We were getting killed on the boards, Osun in foul trouble again, and missed shots by TCU bouncing way up in the air. Perfect for Ward to rebound. Man, he must be really be underperforming in practice. Is he injured at all? With no Kunc, and foul trouble, we need 1 more guy to get minutes.
I’m at the game and Ward was standing at half court in his warmups while the rest of the team was doing layup line before game started. He wasn’t participating but all the players were slapping his hand as they walked by him. He’s only player on bench still in his warmups. Didn’t know if John or Eric had mentioned anything. I’m guessing minor injury but just a guess. He is engaged on the bench for sure.

Significant difference for TCU playing a fast game (like they did against Baylor) versus ISU making them play half court offense.

Great way to close out the half.

Gotta love the way we are playing right now. Generally great shot selection and great defense but we're starting to give up some rebounds and second chance ops. Officiating became a factor in the last 10 with some missed calls that should have went our way and some whistles against us that were suspect.

Jones made some nice plays but he was a liability in the last 3 minutes. Osun picked up 2 really bad fouls, one that was 10 feet beyond the arc and the other one under the basket where he reached. He needs to pick his battles and keep himself in the game. We are much better when he is on the floor.
And there it is, right on cue - the lead Jones basher. Really need Osun's 2 points instead of Jones 6 pts.

Do you schedule these posts ahead of time?

Osun needs to stop doing that. He's picked up tons of fouls this season by crowding guys too close way out front. You need to know when to back off just a little.

Yeah I having good leads in away B12 games means someone needs more PT.

Whenever Watson is in the game something positive happens. A rebound, a block, a put back. Plus he’s long and athletic. This dude is going to put on muscle and own the league one day.

Teams are both playing aggressive physical defense trying to foul sometimes. Gabe got fouled three times on one play and they called a travel on ISU.

Our fouls are real fouls, they swallowed whistle for TCU playing with similar amount of contact.
Correct I think all fouls called on us have been pretty legit. But it’s damn near impossible to go through 20 minutes of basketball with today’s rule book and have only 3 fouls. There’s holding a player on every other trip down the floor and it just depends which ones they want to call. I don’t think TCU has fouled a lot but there’s been 2 or 3 since I started watching with 9 minutes to play that I can’t believe weren’t called.

I just looked. We are shooting 60.7 percent from the floor, only being 2 of 8 from the field. The reasons for that are ball movement and shot selection. Probably the best half we've had in this regard all season, IMO.

Which play should have resulted in a feee throw? I can’t remember any missed shooting fouls.

They missed a couple, but for a road game in the Big 12 the refs have been just fine. Better than we often see.

Thank you for that info. Good to hear a response without criticism.

The last 2 possessions of the half were:
Old - In bound play to Robert (senior) for the bucket, great assist!
New - Offensive miss-putback by Demarion (freshman)!

Nice.

Playing great so far. Although TCU’s 5-13 on free throws and missing a lot of wide open 3s has really helped us. If they shoot better in the second half we’ll have to match them. Biggest surprise for me is how much we’re pounding the ball inside on offense. Obviously very intentional when I didn’t think we could score so much against their size. Hats off to TJ and his staff.
