Not sure if we changed a lot or not.
I suspect that superior talent just wore us down. It's not a surprise that Baylor is better than we are right now.

Proud of these guys for the most exciting 3 quarters of offense I remember seeing out of us. Good calls, good execution, good emotion, and it still took near perfection to be in this one.

For three quarters we played like a real live P5 Big 12 football team. In the 4th quarter we played like the worst team in the conference or maybe even the worst team in P5.. You can pick which one to dwell on but we aren't to suddenly be good within a few games of sucking. Making progress though.

I wonder if I was the only one that was just waiting for that one little mistake that the would start the unraveling of our team. Right now our margin of error is just to thin when the game is close. 2 come to mind, when they pinned us at our own 10 and Warren looking down field before he caught the ball. Still we played pretty darn good.

We win this game if we stopped the run.

ISU wasn't stopping the run, and probably will have continuing trouble stopping the run in the future. Any victories are going to come by scoring lots of points. On the positive side, it seems that the potential is there to do that. Just have to do it for 4 quarters.

You play to win the game not moral victories.

It is obvious to everyone here that you have no idea what sport is about.

Nobody expects kittens to fight wildcats and come out alive. What's important is that the kittens never give up the fight. I'm very proud about what our boys did today, and I'm excited for the future of which we have been provided a glimpse today.

Lots of really good things today. Obviously, Joel and the offense were incredible for 3 quarters. Simply amazing. I can't even be mad about the 4th quarter because you can't expect perfection.

A few thoughts:

1. There were some stupid penalties. But they were not nearly as frustrating today. I'd say that the false starts weren't stupid penalties too. We were running the clock down and that's a lot to expect of an o line. So while the penalty numbers were high, there were only maybe 3 or 4 that were awful.

2. Should have gone for it on 4 and 11. We weren't stopping them and maybe they would have scored faster.

3. I know everyone claims Joel isn't a good passer, but I think he's really good on the deep ball. He's not as good on the short routes.

Our offense has not looked this good for 2 games in a row for many many years. Wish the defense could have come up with a few more stops, but in reality, we just don't have the talent in that front 6 at all to win games like this minus Tucker.

My Take:
They look at the Baylor fumble/TD from an endzone cam, Cyclones are still up by 7 points with 3 second left.

Disappointed that the Cyclones couldn't mount a drive late in the game. That too could have won the game for us.

Defense... non existent for the most part.

If Rhoads were coach: Win vs UNI. Probably a win vs SJSU. Given a decent offensive coordinator, Rhoads wins today. Still believe that Campbell MAY become a good coach coaching staff. Disappointed they have taken so long to show up like they did in the first three quarters today.

Rhoads is gone and there are a bunch of players playing today that wouldn't be here if Rhoads was. Montgomery, Deshaunte Jones, Bobek, Ewundu, etc

What in the last three years of the Rhoads era do you have to back this up?

Oh, and by the way, this is who we lost to today:
http://www.espn.com/espn/otl/story/...al-assault-prevention-leaves-feeling-defeated

Another proof that we live in an unjust world. Rapers and murders still seem to prevail. I'd have more respect for Russell's "brand" of Christianity (it doesn't seem to match mine) had he decided to take a stand against the institution which is still trying to hide and justify their crimes. I guess the fact that he came back to the team and continues to win FB games helps him forget the events of the past ____ years at that religious institution.

The "Honor Before Victory" plaque got some air time today.

I wouldn't change it

So Baylor with their top 13 team kept all their assistants, and yet this team from ISU who have had less than a year of practices with this staff went toe to toe with them.

New coaching staffs unless getting a boat load of talent are going to struggle for a few games.
Show me how many coaches who take over a program that has a single digit total of wins over the last 3 year that comes out dominating games.

Heck the guy at Georgia got a boat load of talent a winning team barely beat Nichols State, got destroyed by Mississppi.

Rhoads was the head coach, it is his job to pick his assistants, if he could not find an offensive coordinator that is on him.

And I seem to recall we got our butts handed to us by Baylor a lot. Today was a big upgrade.

We all expect Baylor to score on 1 minute long drives, which to me makes this 4th quarter loss more bearable. K-State coming back from being that far down is super depressing given how K-State usually uses 8 minute drives. They both are frustrating though.

Lol, Rhoads would have coached this team to a 70-21 loss today. I love that, "given a decent offensive coordinator." Didn't we give him like 4 chances at hiring one?
