It is funny hearing ESPN analysts bashing uneven schedules because of inflated conferences. This was your doing! I think Booger even said that no conference has ever had even schedules....um the round robin Big 12 was and it was awesome. Then you guys blew it up.

Go to 16 teams. No byes. Every game is on a higher seeded campus until the championship. P4 conferences are split into divisions. Division winners are in. No conference title games. MWC and AAC winners get in. Or no divisions, and top two in each P4 get auto bids. Six at large teams. Seed it by ranking. 16 vs 1, 15 vs 2 and so on.

There’s a real chance there’s no SEC teams that make the semifinals. An ASU vs Boise State natty would be soooo funny. The SEC and BIG fans would lose their minds and lose all credibility moving forward.

My only complaint would be giving Boise a higher seed than ASU when you look at the SOS of both teams. Great to see the committee did not take a 3 loss Alabama over a 2 loss SMU team. As great as the wins that Alabama had, they also had some horrible losses and losing games to a 6-6 OU and Vandy teams should count against you.

That was going to happen because Boise St has been in their top 10 for weeks and decided not to downrank them for their close wins against Nevada and Wyoming like they should have. When they didn't choose to deflate an overinflated Boise St team then, you can't do it after they win their conference championship. In fact, I expected them to be bumped up to 3 when SMU lost.

Behind you
Before they announced SMU I thought for sure it was going to be Bama and that they were getting an absolute cakewalk to the semis by putting them v. PSU and then Boise, leading to a rematch between Bama and Georgia. Still kind of shocked that didn't happen.

And for those that said it was guaranteed the Big 12 would be playing in the Fiesta Bowl... NOPE - ASU is playing in the Peach Bowl.

And holy crap - if OSU beats Tennessee you get a near-traditional Rose Bowl matchup.

It was the bad losses. 3 losses in regular season is too many versus SMU’s lone regular season loss.

Alabama collapsed at the end of the season especially with the bad losses to OU.

1 seed is always going to have a tough road in this - they will almost always be waiting for a conference champion or the highest ranked team not to win a conference championship, and if they get by that they'll next have either the 4th conference champion or the team good enough to beat them. In fact, the #1 seed could have to beat as many as 3 conference champions to win a Natty. It's the ultimate Ric Flair route: "To be the best, ya gotta beat the best... WOOOOOO!!!"
Isn’t this exactly what the playoff proponents wanted? To have the national champion actually prove themselves on the field? Well, here you go. Prove it.

Only reason was because Clemson won. Made it tolerable.
I tend to agree. I think we accidentally landed on something decent. I saw a very similar projection on Yahoo Sports this morning -only difference was SMU and Clemson were flipped (would have loved a Texas vs SMU game).

Hopefully they can fix the format in the future to make this a more likely outcome.
