Sandy Alomar, Jr. just recently interviewed. A little more than two years from retiring as a player, Sandy Alomar is up for a major league managerial position. I don't think the Cubs are a good team for first time major league managers. From my recollection, the managers who've had success with the Cubs have all been veterans with years, sometimes decades of experience in the majors. Newbie managers just don't do well on the north side. Hope the Cubs find the right fit in any regard.

Instead of hiring a manger, I think they could just fold as an organization. Probably better in the long run AND gives them just as good of a chance to win a World Series.

Ryno, will definately sell tickets. (nothing the Cubs have ever had to worry about) ...and the man is getting more and more experienced. I was kind of hoping for a big named, or at very least, a well proven skipper, who truely knows how to manage.

I would not be happy with ryne or sandy as manager. Francona is probably the best candidate.

I would have to go with Mike Maddox. Theo and Co. have already stated that they want to improve the overall pitching and defense. By selecting a proven 1st tier Pitching Coach would be the way to go.
If I was Theo I hire Mike then have him fill out his coaching staff with these guys:
Bench Coach - Pat Listach - under contract - real good "baseball" guy
Pitching Coach - Greg Maddox
Hitting Coach - Rudy Jaramillo - under contract
1st Base - Ivan DeJesus - better at first than third - would be good for Castro
3rd Base - Ryne Sandberg - if not offered by another team for manager of bench coach
Bullpen Coach - Jody Davis or keep Strode
Special Assistant - Bob Dernier - his coaching has improved our base stealing by leaps and bounds.

I think it will be Francona or Maddux. I don't think Alomar stands a chance after hearing some of his interview answers.

Francona would be a home run hire. Guy has already shown he can win it all.

What candidate even comes close to matching his qualifications?

And Sandberg would be a disaster of a hire IMO. He should be about option #4.

I like Maddox the best just based on the way he handled the media. Francona would obviously be a good get, but not sure if he's up to the rebuild job.

Greg Maddux and Mike Maddux apparently didn't spend enough time around baseball to get their names spelled correctly.
