Still haven't offered Juiston so must not have seen enough yet.

I think the staff is going to be really selective with JUCOS and grad transfers to make sure they have the right fit.

Probably right, although they should have room to make an early offer or two. I wonder if they're hesitant due to jumping too early on Kosango. They have openings and hopefully would create a couple more, if needed.

Juiston looks more likely to make a difference next year than a guy like Lake imo

I would image the number of JUCO's they sign will depend on how the feel they are doing with 2018 recruits.

I think it was Prohm that has said that you don't really want to bring in a juco unless he's ready to help and play right away. I agree. Hogue did. Donovan has.

Spring jucos for 2017-18? Imo you greatly prioritize next year. If they can get three jucos and a grad transfer that will play, we should do it.

I think you can't put everything into next year. Taking away 3 scholarships for next years class would really hurt the future. If you can get 1 or 2 impact JUCO/Transfers you do but you don't want to over recruit a class and leave future classes empty.

Agreed, but bringing in a JuCo big would be a huge positive compared to a iffy prep player that needs to develop still. This is where JuCo recruiting gets tough, when you are in a spot like ISU and you know you are going to be young/inexperienced but with solid talent, you want to be able to give them minutes and help them grow knowing you aren't going to win the NCAA tourney next year. I think we did the opposite this year, we saw we had a bunch of senior back-court players that had been together a long time, our staff felt we could compete if we brought in solid front-court depth, and maybe jumped the gun a bit on some. I think Prohm will learn from this JuCo recruiting year, and use it going forward in his recruiting.

But I digress... completely agree with your point. and think 1 impact JuCo for sure, I'd rather have it bee a front-court player, If I had to choose. Let our talented, young guards take their lumps early in the year and let them grow throughout. I really want Juiston the more and more I read about him.

There will always be turnover to make room. If a guy can help us win next year, you don't pass on him and keep a spot open for "possible " commitments in 18-19

I agree to some extent. Let some of our young guys play (Wigginton, Lard, Young, Long, Lewis, McNeill). If we can find a balance of getting maybe 1-2 more players that can help for next year, that would be fine too, but I hope they're not too short sighted.

What do you mean about jumping early on Kasongo? Is there some inside word that Kasongo is a bust?

Is anybody else a little concerned with the minimal amount of recruits we've had visit Hilton for games this year? It seems like in the past we've had a decent amount of recruits visit for the big games such as Kansas, West Virginia, Baylor, etc. I haven't seen us host many this year just wondering if this was normal or not

I'm not sure but I remember there being talk, from Prohm I think, about how gameday visits aren't ideal when it comes to giving full attention to a recruit. I think we had a decent amount for hilton madness and in September

yeah, prohm said he prefers non-gamedays so he and the staff can really show them around. hard to "sell" a program if you're focused on an upcoming game and not the recruit.

That totally makes sense, but it just seems like that is a different strategy than most coaches take when it comes to recruiting and gameday visits. I'll trust Prohm on this one. I just think with Hilton Magic and our fan base, I think we have a lot to show off with our gameday atmosphere.

I don't think ISU has played a home Saturday game in awhile have they?
Kind of hard to get kids in for midweek games.

Might be part of it..

Prohm has to find upgrades where he can. Possibly a Grad transfer that can be a Senior role player.

There are still a lot of question marks for next year. Who knows what the incoming class will do or what the current freshman will turn into. After watching Bowie and Holden and dealing with Lard I think Prohm will have to make the most if he remaining scholarships.

Don't forget the conference took a huge step forward this year. Standing pat might land ISU in the bottom third next season.

Yeah, Jucos can be really unpredictable in CBB. Their competition isn't always that good relative to some of the high schools these guys play. Plus, it's not like football where it's really hard to fill holes with freshmen. It's easier to play freshmen in CBB.

Second hand information from a Tennessee fan is all I've heard, but it's spread like a bad case of crabs.

Wasn't second hand info from a fan. The Tennessee 247 guy posted his thoughts about him back when he committed. If Alex Halsted or Chris Williams shared their thoughts on an isu player it would be considered a solid source.
