A Top 100 PF is expected to commit to Michigan this afternoon. Certainly can't hurt our chances with Race. I've heard it's between us and Indiana right now but the staff feels we're in a good position.

If this is true, you have to like our chances due to the fact that Prohm is going into his 3rd season here and Indiana is moving into the season with a new HC. Race is expected to make a decision before the season starts, so that could also help our case.

And as expected, he committed to Michigan. Another top wing is visiting Michigan this weekend and they are the favorite for him as well. I'd expect Race to be out for them.

Good catch. Right after I posted I realized Gabe Brown was committed to Michigan State, not Michigan. Got to think they target a guard with that final scholarship.

Yeah, I would think that they'd head towards guards and true shooters next, but they could add Thompson since he's a unique guy. FWIW, I have no idea how Thompson fits in Beileins system. If just seems like an odd fit as far as what he's liked to do. I'd be much more intrigued by Prohm's use of Niang and Burton if I were Thompson.

I think he would fit well with Michigan as well. Indiana I don't. I still think it will be hard for him to not pick Minnesota. I found it interesting he said in a recent article the chance to play the 3 is something that he would like.

Baylor may be his best chance to play the 3 position. Are they still on his list?

Monte didn't seem to have (either) the leg strength or footwork to play O or D at his max potential. Always looked like he was sorta loose from his man on the defensive end, but I feel like he was def quick enough on offense. Did not have an *elite* crossover, but at least 'very good' imo.

Love Monte, he's def in my top 5 Clones of all time (bball, and I'm only 29) but I feel like we all romanticize him a lil.. his strength was leadership and taking care of that effin ball. Which won ISU a LOT of games, make no mistake.

Would we take all 3, 2018 guards? I don't think it's realistic, but we'd take the first two to commit. I don't think they'd be against taking 3 guards but I feel like the 3rd would be a redshirt flyer or a juco. The 3rd of that group (whoever that may be) would want a better look at playing time and find another opportunity.

Thanks for being Mr. Negative!

He'd have to get a lot quicker to play the 3 at the high major college level. I'm not sure what the timeline is on Jarvis Thomas' decision but I'd be pretty surprised if Race ends up at Minnesota if Jarvis Thomas commits there soon.

I said it in the Tyler Harris thread but a class of Harris, Green, Thompson, and Conditt would be the dream. All very much in play from the sounds of things. Should get fun soon.

I agree. The reality is we get one of those and then 4 more guys we don't know who they are at this point. That is the way recruiting seems to happen. BTW Harris may only be 5'9 but there is a reason he is being recruited by some good teams. He must be really good to be that small and still being recruited.
