Was curious if Prohm would still be in after giving Flemming a lot of attention last summer. The staff was watching him in July.
@jerrymeyer247 Javian Fleming has cut his list to
Alabama, IowaState, TCU, TexasA&M, Georgetown, Ole Miss, FGCU, Clemson,Tennessee 247sports.com/Player/Javian-…

Iowa State: “I like how they let their players just play, but play the right way. Plus, they’re one of the top teams in the country every year"

Morris Udeze, the 6-foot-8 power forward from Fort Bend (TX) Travis High School, named LSU, Ohio State, Florida Gulf Coast, Iowa State, Wichita State, New Orleans, Butler, TCU, Tulsa, and St. John’s as his final ten schools on Saturday via Twitter. He broke down each school for D1VISION:

Iowa State: “They play in the Big-12 which is a great conference. Also, they play tough and I love that.”

underwood going to IL was a setback for our chicago recruiting strategy, IMHO. he's going to be tough to beat, especially since he hired two slimey recruiting dudes to help him navigate the chicago recruiting scene.

if he gets traction with those 3 guys and we don't it just makes our climb even steeper.

Yeah, recruiting is never be easy for us, but Underwood can't sign every kid out of Illinois.

What's with the Underwood fear? He has 1 year of experience at a P5 school, was out coaches by Prohm 3 times , and Iowa State is a better program than Illinois right now. The only advantage they have is their proximity to Chicago. He might be a force in the future, but he hasn't really done anything yet and he certainly hasn't done anything to warrant this fear about recruiting against him.

Groce didn't have success on the court but was landing high end talent from Illinois every year. ISU historically hasn't had success recruiting out of Illinois no matter the coach was. Underwood is a quality coach has few ties to the local products at this time and there isn't much recent tradition of winning to impress 18 year olds. I don't see any reason to fear him any more than any coach of the illini..
Underwood will get a number of local guys to commit but not more than most state school who players want to stay in close to home and play the Big 10.

Way up there
If anything, Underwood being hired may have helped us. It's not like we've recruited Chicago well at all the last few years, Groce getting fired opened things up a bit and now we've made progress with a number of Illinois recruits, more than in the past. It's always an uphill battle recruiting against in state schools, especially in Illinois but the coaching change may have at least left the door a little more open. It'd be great to capitalize and bring in a couple of these guys to kind of set the tone that ISU is a factor in Illinois.

I was just going to ask about this guy. I remember us getting in on him, and being happy cause by all accounts he's as good/better than his brother and we were in on him a bit earlier(than we were for his brother). His AAU team Compton Magic seemed to have a good summer against some top talent, but not positive how he fared, other than his good game against the BBB team
