Seems like the staff has narrowed it down to two guards in high school. If we don't get them I will assume a transfer or juco in the spring

Right now I think both prep guys will wait until the spring to sign. It would fit the staff plan to add a guard if Lindell goes pro, be it prep, juco or transfer. I wouldn't rule out another name or two surfacing.
Obviously if either wanted to commit I am sure the staff would take it, but both seem pretty open in their recruitment at this point and it is getting late in the process to sign by November.

Also might be some openings if coaches get fired (Minnesota) and some recruits open their recruitment back up in the spring. That's always a possible outcome as well.

Must be $$$. No other reason a kid would go to Depaul. He won't ever get seen on TV by anyone.
Although DePaul has always been an after thought in the basketball landscape of Chicago/Illinois hoops, they have always been a team that will out swing their record in the recruiting every now and then, even when they are in a rut. Being directly in Chicago is a huge tool they use, in a cool part of the city also as jcy said, and every so often they snag a bigger than expected fish from that pond. Every other year or so grab a guy around 150. Every 5 years or so grab a guy in the top 100.

I doubt they will ever be a power, but if someone could come into that school and change the way the CPS coaches view them, they could carve out a nice niche. We'll see how this class ends up, but they have a really solid core of recruits right now.

I wouldn't say always....I'm old enough to remember the Ray (and then Joey) Meyer days when they were perennial contenders for the tournament. But yeah, it has been a while, and I am very old.

If you have no NBA aspirations and want to play some good talent, Live in Chicago, Be close to family and play in front of them. I have no idea why more don't commit to DePaul since its such a good school.

most of the better recruits coming out of the city of Chicago only have aspirations of making it to the NBA. And are probably told their entire prep/AAU career how they can make it.

But I agree, if I was a mid-low level recruit and Depaul offered me I would've love it without question.

DePaul is in the Big East.

That is just as much a major conference as the Big Ten.

I would figure its academic standards are not far behind other high-major schools in the same region, too, if I were to run through the list quickly...

Illinois
Northwestern
Notre Dame
Wisconsin

And etc. after that.

Pretty sure a DePaul assistant coach got tagged in the last couple of days by Brian Bowen Sr. in the FBI trial.

EDIT: yup

Dirty program that still cannot win man, this reminds me of the Criner days, he cheated and ISU still sucked.

Criner had no choice though. Our facilities were so bad compared to everyone else. To quote Rick Flair. If he was not cheating he was not trying.
