I'm honestly curious, are there really that many people that still watch Gameday? It always seemed like a regurgitation week after week.

I get that we're disappointed, but ESPN is trying to make money here. That's their goal. Osu vs Penn state is a higher profile match up. I mean, it just is. I would have loved to see us get GameDay, but it's hard to argue with their choice.

This is one of the reasons they are struggling. They focus on select schools and just ignore the rest. Why does half the country’s watch it if their teams aren’t included. They said they wanted to focus on new great storylines this year and going back to Ohio State isn’t doing that.

Doesn't surprise me. Would have been good for our program/University to have it but quite frankly for the team (players) it may be better. Less of a distraction.

I get that, but they just did Penn St last week (two weeks in a row), this is the second time this year they're in Columbus, and you know they'll be in Ann Arbor for UM-OSU. Can they at least make it a little less obvious that they spread their legs for the Big 10?

So you want a television network to apologize for trying to maximize their viewership? Yep, they favor the conferences that they have a vested interest in. And?
I want GameDay to come as much as the next cyclone, but I can't fault ESPN for picking Osu. They aren't in the game to be fair to every school/conference.

I would agree with that argument completely, except for the fact that they will be spending 2 hours pushing a game that isn't even on their networks. So they are going to be pushing fans to Fox to watch that game. Meanwhile, the ISU/TCU game IS on their networks (ABC/ESPN2). So, they could go to ISU to drum up interest and push this up and coming program vs. a top 5 game on their networks. Instead, they will push people to Fox. Like I said, I get that argument normally, but under these circumstances, I think they'd be better pushing our game vs a game on a different network.

Obviously I'm a homer, but that's my two cents.

I would much rather watch them cover ND/NC St or WV/OK St than another round in Columbus. Whether or not CFB fans around the country agree with that or not we will see when ratings come out next Sunday.

the highest rating for college gameday come @JamesMadison. That shows ou people like watching new and unique places. On reddit everyone is complaining about how they wished they went to ames instead because that would've been something new.

I have no doubt that PSU vs OSU will be a good game, but I've seen gameday at OSU numerous times. I have no desire to watch that.

Several folks being very myopic, here. They're choosing a game between two top 10 teams, both with national brands. It's a higher profile game. It just is. Picking the site of a higher profile game that will likely drive better ratings for their show isn't why "ESPN is struggling." That's just an easy out excuse.

I'm going to offer a weird idea, just for the sake of discussion, and see where it goes.

Wouldn't it help them to promote more leagues than just the one, in the idea of building their own audience for multiple leagues instead of depending on just the one, or is the audience really that limited that only one is possible?

I'm just curious here. This could go a lot of valid directions.

Then why the heck are they going to places like Abilene Christian and James Madison every year? Does that really bring in the raitings?
