Best steak I've ever had was a ribeye at the Silverton. I usually forget the name of the casino but I remember it houses the Bass Pro Shop.

This thing melted in your mouth served w/ sautéed new potatoes and fresh green beans. Thought I was back on the farm.

Wow. Overwhelmed. I'm just going to get a room watch the game drink and eat a little, and people watch. BTW nice job.

Maybe its in there, I could only skim for now. But get a credit card associated with one of the majors and you can get some nice perks as well as grabbing points.

GF has a Caesars card and we generally get an upgraded room and some other small things that normally you'd have to pay for. Just for having the card really.

We will be at the Flamingo, probably with a group, and probably for a week or so. Going to make a great vaca out of it!

This was really helpful, particularly to give a reality check on the "Vegas comp" mythology. It was very interesting to read how the business of Vegas comps works.

What would you say are the minimum amounts of gambling, shows, etc. that would be needed to get any comps? To be honest, I got a little spooked by your examples of $5000 and $10000, even though it makes sense that you have to "earn" your comps.

Please explain more about tipping.

1. How much do you tip a waitress each time she checks on you for drinks?
2. How much (and how often) do you tip the dealer?

I did not put anything about credit cards because I didn't want to tell people to make financial decisions such as opening a credit card account just for a week/end stay in Vegas. You're right it does help but I didn't want to get in that business

What do you think of Penn & Teller's show? I've loved those guys for years, but wonder if they have gotten tired of their own schtick.

Anything else that you would recommend for someone who likes that sort of thing?

What about "resort fees?" Mirage is $44/night added on to a $135/night room! I'm not planning to use the pool or other on-site features other than the casino (and even that probably not so much). Can I opt out of the resort fee?

The fine print says "A daily resort fee plus applicable tax on the resort fee is applied to all hotel reservations. The resort fee includes: Property-wide high speed internet access (public spaces and in-room), unlimited local and toll free calls, airline boarding pass printing, and fitness center access for guests 18+."

No thanks at $44/night. If this is the only comp I get, I will be happy. Is this a time for the $20 Trick?
