Not at the down, distance, and situation. Normally people complain about how our defense gets chunked to death 5-10 yards at a time because we play DBs way off the line of scrimmage and lots of safety help over the top to not let anything behind us. With 20 seconds left who cares if they chunk you, they run out of time, take the game to OT. It's mind boggling that the coaching staff makes this decision at this point in the game... I'm not on the fire Rhoads bandwagon by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm curious to see what he says about it in the postgame press conference. Richardson, Bibbs, Lazard, Montgomery, Wimberly all had huge games tonight, but the defensive play calling was not putting the team in a position to win tonight.
I'm not happy, but I have to be proud of the fight. Just wish we were 4-3 instead of 2-5...so close! Best 2-5 team in the nation doesn't mean anything. But we are an improved football team from a year ago, and we are making major improvements this season. Maybe we pick up 2 more wins...and then hope for better next year.
One of you ******* football savants should tell me what the average size of a D1 corner is. Please, go find it and report back. Then, tell me how big NFL corners are. Some of you are so sure you have something clever to say but all you really do is display your lack of knowledge.
OK.....positives.....I think E.J. Bibbs is really getting traction and will play on Sundays. On Monday Night Football his image will look at the camera during lineups and say "Iowa State". That's good.
college CB is 5'9"-5'11", nfl is 5'11"-190 lbs.
Lol, that hurts.
Depending how we can close a game against a bad KU and Tech team I would say 4.Surprised it was close. Not surprised we choked by not executing simple football plays against a bad UT team.
3 or 4 wins for the year is still attainable. If the offense can play nearly that well going forward, and the defense play sound (not necessarily good, but responsible) like they usually do, maybe we hit 5.
Hey, we have a winner. Tribune is 5'10. He's hardly undersized. Sam is undersized but I don't think he really gave up much because of height tonight. Tribune got flat torched once, a guy made a play once and then Tribune fell on the last one. When I watch him, all I see is either exceptional play or pretty bad stuff. I'm hoping that's just age. Maybe it won't be and that's all he'll be, but it beats the days of watching guys running free by five yards all the time.
