Staten and Harris each played 39 min. vs. KU. I expect the same this game. If we can keep Harris from getting open looks from outside I bet we win.

Have Morris guard Harris and stay on him like glue; by far their biggest threat from outside. Don't have Harris' defender double down!!

If Kane can contain Staten, we win.

Henderson can knock down the three as well. We are going to find it tough sledding if we plan to double in the post.

I'm sorry but there is no way Kane can contain Staten. Staten is tiny and lightning quick. Much as I love Kane's game, he is not quick enough to guard Staten effectively. I would think Monte is our best hope at containing Staten.

I would agree. Would expect Monte to be on him most of the game.

I was going to point this out but you did it for me. There is a reason he averages 17 pts a game.

Hope it's a good one....Letss Goooo Mountaineers!

If Monte can hold him to 14 I would say he did an outstanding job and would probably be the player of the game on the defensive end.

I am so glad that our student section doesn't need a print out telling them traditional cheers. Can you imagine if someone from Iowa State got on the mircrophone before the game and had to explain the cheers to the football crowd?

mmm.... does Jeff Johnson count?

I'll admit to not having seen Staten play much. Maybe it's Morris who will guard him then. So switch Morris and Kane but I stand by the rest of my post :)

(Sorry, posted this to the wrong thread.)

Talking about free-falls, the biggest this year may end up being Oklahoma State. They're already in a four-game losing streak and have fallen to 16-7/4-6. With Smart's suspension, I don't think they're likely to win any of the next three (@ Texas, vs Oklahoma, @ Baylor). Maybe they can rally and win a game (or two) in this stretch, I think that's a huge stretch. Remember this is a team that was only playing 6-7 players and one of them was Marcus Smart. If they win one of these three, I think Baylor is their best chance, given how the Bears appear to have no interest on the defensive end.

If OSU loses the next three, that would be a seven-game losing streak and they would be 16-10/4-9. If that happens, that would have to be one of the quickest free-falls in the history of CBB, for a team that was in the top 10 just a month ago.

Smart returns for the final five games, but that includes a home game against Kansas and a road game at ISU. I could see OSU rally and only lose one of those five games, in which case they'd finish the regular season 20-11/8-10. They'd better hope for such a rally, it might mean the difference between the NCAA and the NIT.

If all this pans out, there would be two factors favoring OSU getting an at-large berth. First, the committee would take into account that three of their losses were without Smart (assuming they lose the next three). Second, there is a precedent for selecting teams with losing conference records. Of course this includes the 1991-92 ISU Cyclones who made the Big Dance after going 5-9 in the Big 8, which was the worst conference record for any team ever selected for an at-large berth.

Yeah, I dont' expect anyone to shut Staten down; if we can hold him under 20 ISU will have a very good chance of winning.

Earlier today I noticed that in Big 12 play Staten is averaging 40.1 minutes a game. In 11 games (including 2 OT games) he has sat a grand total of 9 minutes. That is unreal.

He is what makes our offense go. Without him our offense would be crippled.
