Neither team is that great, but this was a great win by ISU! Hopefully the team can keep making some progress. Actually, they should have had at least 10 more points, and Iowa should have had at least 3-7 less. Can't give up 4th and 8's to anybody.

Iowa has some serious problems with their offense. Too boring, and way too predictable, and they can't execute it very well even at that.

Great win Clones!

Woot woot. Looked good on tv. I want a redo with Rutgers now that we have Mangino. I want to play IOwa again. Heck, I want to join the big 10 just so we can get 9, 10 wins a year.

CPR still needs to be fired, IOWA was horrible today. I will take a win against Iowa anyday....but even chizik won against iowa. If we are ever going to be average, like finishing in the middle, CPR has to go. If you like going to bowl games and wining , CPR needs to be fired.

Man, in, it really must suck going through life with an outlook like this.

I thought Mangino had some great calls and made good adjustments in the 2nd half. I thought we'd lose this game by a touchdown; what an awesome feeling and we can build on this momentum

I still can't believe that all but 3 of our points came in the second half! I didn't even know we played second halves until today.

Really enjoy the win, and I'll continue to enjoy it for another week or two... But how will this team respond to success is what I'm dying to see. How will we stack up against traditional Big 12 offenses? Defense seems to be improving but I'm not buying too far into anything until I see them against a fast offense. Can't wait till the next game already.

I have to do it. Here is Iowa's conference schedule.

@ Purdue
vs. Indiana
@ Maryland
vs. Northwestern
@ Minnesota
@ Illinois
vs. Wisconsin
vs. Nebraska

Clones would win at least five of those.

B1G should not be lumped in with the rest of the Power 5

We might go 7-1 against that schedule. And I'm not exaggerating. Plus we'd get one extra cream puff non-con opponent to play...

Great to get that first W of the season, and it's juuusstt a little bit sweeter because it was the Hoks. The steady progress and improvement from the team over the last two weeks has been a pleasant surprise. Quick thoughts -

Sam B. Richardson - I think we're all starting to see what the coaching staff saw over the summer when Sam won the job. He took care of the ball, made some good throws, and extended several plays and drives with scrambling ability. He's living dangerously, I'll admit that...there was that near pick six in the 4th that would have been a dagger and Bibbs bailed him out with a great adjustment and catch, but that's what teammates will do for a QB they believe in - they make plays for him.

Mutcherson and Cotton Moya - Said it last week, but it's worth mentioning again. These guys are going to be a force to be reckoned with. They bring a nastiness and edge to that secondary that had been lacking since Leonard Johnson left.

Ferentz - Hok fans should be used to this now. Every season they win a couple they shouldn't and lose a couple they shouldn't because his conservative style makes for a lot of close games. Iowa could have put ISU away early, but they didn't go for the kill and ISU made enough plays to hang around. Iowa is still probably going to win 8-9 games, but they're a deeply flawed team playing a pathetically soft schedule.

Netten - Way to take advantage of the second chance, young man. Keep coming through in the clutch!

Jevohn Miller -Just saw his sound bite on the news about how he was speechless on the field after the game. I'm really happy for him and Farniok and the other seniors. 3-1 for your career and damn near a clean sweep. Not too shabby.

Paul Rhoads - I hope he gets a good night's sleep. The naysayers have been silenced, at least temporarily. Just keep winning.

It's much easier than the Clones schedule for sure, but 'at least five' is quite an assumption. They'd probably get two or three for sure and then could be competitive in most of the rest, which could mean close losses in them all, close wins in them all, no one really knows. That's why it's a pointless exercise.

All that matters is that the Cyclones are better than the Hoks and they showed it on the field today!

Hope Jarvis is OK. Someone start a thread when an update comes out.

Great win though. At first assumed that fumble in the endzone would have cost the game. Yay for second half points! And clutch field goal kicking... sort of. Thanks for the TO Iowa.

At least 5 is very possible and I think quite probable.

Purdue, Indiana, and Illinois are all very, very, bad football teams. So that's 3. Minnesota and Northwestern aren't far behind. And Maryland isn't great either. I would kill to have that schedule.
